I agree RM hasn't been that perfect with the 248's in the last few months of their tenure of the route with a lot of staff cuts happening on the route and across other RM routes as evident with the number of their buses parked at Romford Station stand without a driver for that bus. From what I've seen yesterday there has been an effort by GY to run the 248 as best as they could have even with some struggles like traffic and I do think they will eventually run the 248 pretty well once they get used to with the route. 248 under past few months as you mention has had buses missing at times due to staff cuts, but many London routes has suffered the same fate, especially over the summer holiday period. One that causes a bad effect is the 232/184 as at times, especially during the evening if there are cuts, the drivers normally would put the bus out on Alfoxton Avenue, some drivers do not and leave it in Turnpike Lane blocking up the station. I am not surprised, if a route is going cuts will generally be placed on that route pretty much a diabolical service with long gaps. Overall I have been hearing reports of staff cuts for a few months now from various locations.

I have noticed that aswell, All the comments I seen online oh there goes reliability and now it's gonna be run badly.. I have seen other companies run worse.. Considering it was their first day of 248s yesterday it actually ran quite well. First day went quite well considering the traffic, The drivers taking their time to get the feel of the bus and route as training has been done over past few weeks and month. No Major issues happened and I'm sure it will run well.

The rest of GY routes are blinded fine however every DW I’ve seen on the 103 today has been blinded the white bar for the destination and the rear with the Arriva London logo. Most of GY DWs which have the logo on rear or blank don't work as motors don't work and we got a few buses without destination cctv we drivers have reported it many times but engineers don't wanna know, plus on the new blinds Rainham is Number 17 whereas used to be number 4 on the blinds and chase remains as blind number 3

Indeed as usual critics forget the previous team are used to driving, controlling and the bus type on the route... then make fuss over curtailed buses on the first day idiots... A new garage has to get used to everything, the route, the bus type and controllers have to get used to the route as well. Give it about a month and most of the staff on the 248 will be used to it. Funny enough was reading on another group yesterday it it remained with the previous operator it would have got brand new Electrics... says who? This same operator put ex 208 buses on the 128 no one complained... and as usual expect every tender award to be new buses with this firm... I could not fault the first day service, there was one staff cut I believe and generally buses at time were around 5-10 late, nothing drastic. No huge gaps. Believe so but that staff cut was covered by the guy behind the desk and Me

That could explain why the drivers are now showing Blank. Probably a copy of the same blinds fitted to smart blinds not rearranging the destinations. The same was done to DW423 & 424 in 2018 was a very long wind.

They are at Wood Green garage. Some of the times it can be down to just a camera needed to be replaced or the lead has come off, or shorted out. Easiest solution is to cut a hole and put some clear plastic or a flap like on the Gemini 1

I think it's a reasonable offer and kudos to the union for securing the offer.

Does anyone know the current status of the Beddington outstation. The current Google streetview is dated a month ago and shows it locked up with Arriva signage. There appears to be one Arriva trainer with 2 cars on site? Is it still available for use, thought it had gone?

Now used as the training centre, most withdrawn vehicles have been moved out however I think there might be 1 or 2 still at the very back

For anyone interested in the financial crisis, DB is apparently almost insolvent. I’m not an expert though. And I don’t know what that would mean for Arriva who are owned by them.

Wonder what Unite were banging on about then making millions in Profit. Not much use if you secure a 11% pay rise and the company goes bust a week later. I can't see them going under as they're state owned, but it could see them flog a lot of subsidiaries off. Wouldn't be too surprised to see a management buyout of Arriva should it happen and if the capital is available.
