On an Electroliner on the 417. Not quite sure about the pale wood floor as it already looks filthy but again like the more traditional seating layout downstairs. As much as I like the DWs and Ts (and HVs to a degree aswell) if new buses have to come to the 50/194/250 etc im glad its these and that they weren't won by Go Ahead with City's Agree. Although I think dirty wood effect floor looks better than standard lino that's dirty

Got to confess whilst I was highly supportive of high backed seating, it is probably the aspect of the new specifications that underwhelms me the most. Admittedly only been on the GAL Ees, and Abellio Caetanos, be I really do not see there is much benefit of the high backed Civics compared to the low backed version, on the GAL Ees. The highbacked Lazzerini seat used on the Abellio Caetanos, are definitely an upgrade, but hardly significant. Personally I think the wood effect flooring is the greatest environemnt enhancing feature of the new spec, followed by improved iBus displays.

Metroline aren't even using it at all. The high backed seats seem to come down to the specific seat. Abellio use Lazzerinis that have extra padding, Stagecoach and Arriva use standard high backed Lazzerinis, RATP use ADL smart seats while GAL and Metroline use the standard Civic with a headrest.

So not only are the different operators inconsistent with the new high spec interiors, but also within Arriva with this EMN being quite different to the ESs. And generally over the last decade or so, why have Arriva mostly kept yellow handrails for their SD fleet, rather than white like the DDs? Also the EAs/HTs had white handrails but with yellow for the front doors, but this was not necessary for the subsequent ES orders.

The problem I have with the headrest civic is that where it is a stretched leather effect material it is easily damaged. There are numerous Ee at A with slashes and writing all over the rear seat headrests. At least the Lazzerinis are fully plastic all the way up so do safeguard better against vandalism.

I remember seeing somewhere that point of high backed seating is to protect passengers’ heads in the event of a crash rather than it being more luxurious.

Surely that is only applicable for primary school children, my head is nowhere near the extra padding!

Does anyone else prefer white poles? The yellow poles age horrendously, they are so ugly on the 255 and 289 for example, even in newer vehicles it just looks off
