Apparently happened around 01.00, the bus was due to run light back to BN and the driver did a U turn rather than use the Longmead Road stand and somehow lost control. Post on Facebook claimed pedal confusion. Foolish but easy mistake to make. Quite possibly, bit concerning how often this seems to happen, fortunately nobody injured.

However if an accident did occur, company would say why was you doing a U turn and not following official line of route even if is is illegal or not Outside of BN it is illegal to do a U Turn and happens daily if an accident happens Police can prosecute better to follow the Highway Code.

Why dose HA11 have the 0 in the fleet number?

Why dose HA11 have the 0 in the fleet number? probably a bit like quite a few of the ES's have at least one zero, like ES015, probably no particular reason.

Many 171 and 47 drivers are doing it! There was even a night where one 171 drove up to Daneswood Road (before Catford Police Station stop) did a whole U-Turn another went up going up towards Conisborough College and looping via Bellingham Road (which I think in a way is a better approach than going all the way up to Downham empty). There was also also a time a 47 driver reversed into the road next to TFC and pulled out nearly being knocked out by an oncoming 54!

If we're on the topic of u-turns I've seen a whole heap of drivers on the 50 doing it on the stockwell end of the route. One almost clipped my friends car which was a bit scary.

It makes sense when the road is clear of traffic because it’s so wide, Ive seen drivers choose to go around the backstreets around SW if necessary.

Isn't that the official routing since they removed the one way junction
