With the 50s buses seemingly being released for the 217, the 50 is almost fully EV with more of the 64s batch entering service at BN. I imagine 12/13 of the 50s batch may move to AR giving the 217 a fully Gemini 2 HV operation and the 64 using 289 ES’s with the original batch transferring to TH with the 50 when it moves to TH. If this means that route 50 using ESs from BN is a short-lived operation, I may prefer to ride route 50 to route 417 in September. Except ... I suddenly have the feeling it will move later this month as part of its new tender. If the 64 goes as planned, I assume 50/194 will move on their contract renewal dates. Tbh I think they’ll move over on their renewal dates regardless of electrics or not

Have the 217 started using the ex W3 T’s yet? I don't think it's going to, I think it was just something that was mooted. Now the 50's electrified there's no need to revive them and type-train AR drivers on them.

What are they using then? Mostly the 50s old HV allocation. A lot of these like HV14 and 20 are Tottenham veterans, having been on the 149 and 243 before transfer to BN, so a lot of the drivers have driven the G2 HVs before the new ones arrived in 2017. HV32 is on the 217, saw it today

Replying to both of you, I think I may prefer to ride an ES on route 50 to route 417 regardless. There is the incidental matter that it will be a handy connection to route 450 at Thornton Heath station. The ones on route 50 will of course be newer than route 417. If still at BN this will be a short-lived operation, but if at TH then a refreshingly modern operation. So, a win win situation! Unlikely but intriguing trivia. Thornton Heath station is served by routes 50, 250 & 450 but not 150 or 350.

HV32 is on the 217, saw it today They will have been on route 76 at the time. I rode one on August Bank Holiday 2011, incidentally rerouted via London Wall due to roadworks, well before this became its new routeing.

I’m assuming Arriva intend to operate the 217 using Gemini 2 HVs, so far I have spotted HV14 HV20 HV30 HV35 HV36 HV37 Are there any other Gemini 2 HVs anyone has spotted? Looks like there are more of the 50s allocation out of service so could be a few more on route. I think the Gemini 3s we are seeing are simply spares from the 243/341 rather then actually part of the allocation. For me on Thursday, I've spotted: HV20 HV30 HV32 HV36 HV37 HA15 Didn't spot HV14, HV35 and HV167. I've seen HV167 back on the 141 every now and then (seen on LVF)

I'm going to guess that the 194 will be the first route whose batch will be issued with 74regs, but the first 74reg to enter service will enter service on the 64.
