Which new or improved public transport services would you suggest for the imminent opening of the ExCel Centre in Docklands as an emergency hospital? It could potentially house up to 4,000 patients with 16,000 staff allocated. Given the huge scale of all this and the fact that so many of those 'temporary' staff will not live in the immediate locality or within striking distance, how can their already difficult task be aided by TfL? I sincerely hope TfL are working on the problem with more efficiency than our government is on the bigger picture, but what might transpire? Tweaks to a few bus services hardly suffice with the magnitude of this. What chances of DLR becoming a 24 hour service on at least some of the lines, for a start, perhaps at ten minute intervals? Should the Jubilee Line run an overnight service too over most of the route? And L.U.'s Eastern arm?
Regarding buses, what might be the best options for enhanced services, even new direct 'express' services to Underground stations? I'm way too out of touch with the area to suggest anything myself, but let's see what you come up with. Free travel for NHS staff would be ideal too, and I hope will be considered.

I believe BW and BX will be running a staff only shuttle to and from the hospital, however I've not heard much more. You do have the 325, 473, 147 and the 300 all serving Prince Regent.

Yep BW or at least BW drivers have been offered the chance to drive the route. Spotted what looked like a Stagecoach Scania a few days ago leaving Excel. There is a huge amount of hotels and UEL being used to accommodate staff so not too sure how much demand there will be for other services.

I believe BW and BX will be running a staff only shuttle to and from the hospital, however I've not heard much more. You do have the 325, 473, 147 and the 300 all serving Prince Regent. I expect the shuttle to be a dedicated link (effectively a private contract) and free - so no fare transactions and no mixing with the general public to reduce the risk of coronavirus spreading. There is dedicated accommodation for staff working at the temporary hospital.

Transport to NHS Nightingale is sufficient, N551 covers the night / early morning journeys for the unit.
The only adjustments to bus routes i would suggest is; the retention of the Saturday services M-F. Free travel would be amazing but has always felt a tad pie-in-the-sky without having government financial support. Discounted travel would be a better start however it is completely understandable that it is not possible with the financial strain seen everywhere. There are greater priorities in the health crisis that should be criticised in my opinion than that of our transport authority or mayor, considering neither of them manage the regional health services.
Nightingale is not currently an outpatients Hospital as I understand, most inpatient admissions will be via some form of ambulance not necessarily via public transport or walking in.

The way I see it, I can’t really imagine the five day and one night ExCel routes being impacted that much tbh. (147, 241, 300, 325, 473 and N551) If you have the disease and need to go to hospital you’re not exactly going to get on a public bus there. Also with the staff only shuttles running to and from there, staff probably won’t get public buses either to protect the few passengers currently using the TfL buses. Which is the whole point of running staff only shuttles. Can’t imagine visitors being allowed to see family either so I can’t see many other reasons for needing to use the six TfL routes to and from there tbh. Unless I’m missing something

Yes that’s correct - admissions will come from other hospitals in order to free up capacity.

Yes indeed. I'm also impressed there is a full stop flag and shelter with timetable and route information at the NHS Nightingale bus stop. I believe the other stops along North Woolwich Road for the car parks, those near the hotels and at Canning Town bus/tube stations are still dolly variants through. Also for those wondering: NG1 runs between NHS Nightingale and Silvertown, South Car Parks NG2 runs between NHS Nightingale and Premier Inn & Double Tree Hilton Hotels NG3 runs between NHS Nightingale and Holiday Inn, Moxy London & Travelodge Hotels Pretty amazing what TfL/Stagecoach etc have done in such a short space of time!
