I just realise that with the long term diversion, the 243 now meets the 341 along Farringdon Road but heading opposite directions to Waterloo. There’s plenty of such examples of routes going to same destinations but in opposite directions

The 'W' prefix in routes W11-W19 references Walthamstow - can anyone advise why routes W1-W10 received a 'W' prefix? Many thanks in advance.

From what I can remember, it started with a flat fare scheme in the late 60s around Wood Green which is why it has the W prefix. The scheme got expanded into immediate areas around Wood Green such as Edmonton and Crouch End but kept the W prefix which is why there are some W routes that don’t serve Wood Green

The old W1 & W2 served Wood Green as did the old W5 & W6 with the W3 the only survivor left from the 1968 scheme. The original W4 is different from the current one but both have and still do serve Wood Green

Other anomalies in prefix routes are: H12 and H13 not serving Harrow, but the H12 stays fully within the borough. The H13 spends more time in Hillingdon than Harrow Three E routes do not serve Ealing and more serve Greenford than Ealing. The H25 and H26 not serving Hounslow. The H91 also doesn't serve Hounslow but serves Hounslow West. The P4 and P5 do not serve Peckham. The P5 is mostly in Lambeth borough.

All the E routes and all the H routes in South West London however, serve the boroughs of Ealing & Hounslow respectively The P4 & P5 are certainly onamalies but the old P5 did serve Peckham along with the P1-P3 (P3 today's 343), P11 (today's 381), P12 & P13 with the old P14 also not serving Peckham alongside the P4 & P5

324, E5 and H13 doesn’t have any routes serving either of their termini Can we really include outside London termini? I’d say Perivale and Southall are very much in London. And there are multiple other routes which go through each area both yet don’t go through the E5’s termini, in comparison to the 353 where I believe only maybe one or two routes go through the area at either end
