Regarding your second sentence it's neither, but I don't travel everywhere across London so I'm not able to find out every bus route that is affected by roadworks Then why did you say the 283 was the only such route? Because I thought it was. But then others said that there was other examples. I admit the post I made was a bit thoughtless

At least I'm not going off topic I don't really have an issue with you unlike others but you do need to take their advice and just calm down a little at times as I can see why it might rub some up the wrong way

what routes join and rejoin the most times?
Example: B15 and B16
At Bexleyheath they join at Clock Tower, then separate near Crook Log, then rejoin/separate at Welling, then rejoin/separate at Falconwood, then join at Eltham where they then separate at Eltham Green, and vice versa.

Not quite as much as that but: 249 & 417 - both meet at Crystal Palace Park, almost immediately separate on the way system, rejoin at Crown Point, separate at Leigham Court Road and then rejoin at Clapham Common

Not quite as much as that but: 249 & 417 - both meet at Crystal Palace Park, almost immediately separate on the way system, rejoin at Crown Point, separate at Leigham Court Road and then rejoin at Clapham Common The 62 and 368 are similar to that example. Both meet in Barking Town Centre, separate and rejoin at Ripple Road before separating again and rejoining in Becontree just before Chadwell Heath. The 62 also has a similar case with the 173. The 62 and 173 meet along the A13, split up and meet again at the Lodge Avenue flyover before splitting up and rejoining in Chadwell Heath. The 345 and 35 also meet quite frequently and split up.

Both 114 & 183 intersects with the H9/10 four times. It used to be five times when the H9/10 diverged to serve Northwick Park station which it doesn’t anymore. With the 114, it meets the H9/10 at Kenton Library, diverges and meets again at Northwick Park roundabout for the H9/10 to serve Northwick Park hospital, diverges as H9/10 turns into Gayton Road and meets again at College Road and heading towards South Harrow, H9/10 heads via Bessborough Road while 114 goes via Lascelles Ave and Shaftesbury Ave, where they meet at Northolt Road and finally separate at Kings Road. With the 183, it meets H9/10 at Kenton Road/Kenton Lane junction, diverges and meets again at Northwick Park roundabout for the H9/10 to serve Northwick Park hospital, diverges as H9/10 turns into Gayton Road and meets again at College Road and they cross each other again at North Harrow.

If you count the incredibly small difference between Morden Hall and Station, the 118/201 have four - Streatham Hill, Mitcham, Morden Hall Road, Morden Station

They cross three times They meet at Edmonton Green then the 191 turns at Bounces Road and meets back with the 279 when it turns into Hertford Road from Nightingale Road then back into south Street to meet back with 279 at the Ponders End Junction

If you'll allow a limited-stop route, SL7 and 285 have five common sections:
Heathrow Central - northern end of the Heathrow tunnel; Hatton Road North - Feltham Assembly Hall; Feltham (Airman) - Uxbridge Road / Park Road; Hampton Hill / Hampton Road - Teddington; Hampton Wick - Kingston.
You could even argue that it's six separate sections, as the 285 peels off to serve Hampton Sainsbury's before rejoining the main road, but that's pushing it a bit!
Otherwise there are quite a few pairs of routes that meet in four separate areas, e.g. 54/380, 180/469, E1/E11, 107/384.
The 107/384 pair would have had five splits if the 384 hadn't been diverted away from the back streets of New Barnet.
