I don’t know if this is a bug or not but I have a job interview at Newbury Park and Google Maps suggested that I take the underground to Newbury Park. So I checked the single fare finder and it said this: tfl.gov.uk/fares/find-fares/tube-and-rail-fares/single-fare-finder?intcmp=54716I checked the tube map to find out how I can avoid Zone 1 but I couldn’t find it; I gave to go into Zone 1 to switch to the Central Line at Holborn. So my question is is there a way that I can avoid Zone 1 because I can’t see it on the map I don’t know if it’s bugged or not. If you are travelling during the peak, it might be cheaper to catch the 123 to Gants Hill then the 66,296 or 396 to Newbury Park. It should take around 90 to 120 mins altogether.Lemme check that: 123 to Gants Hill, 66/296/396 to Newbury Park and back: £6 Wood Green to Newbury Park and back (the cheaper option avoiding Zone 1): £4.80 Think I’ll take the second option. Get a nice walk too.

The daily cap for the buses is just £4.50 and if you do get a bit of luck by getting to Gants Hill then tapping on a 66/296/396 under 70 mins after boarding the 123 or if you willing to walk from Gants Hill to Newbury Park (depending on which part of Newbury Park your destination is) then you can do your whole trip for just £ 3.

If you’re going for an interview, the last thing I’d do is rely on the roads. You just can’t tell what the traffic’s going to be like. Yes, I know the trains can equally get stuck, but I would say it’s more likely to be a safer bet.

I do doubt there would be much traffic at 6am in the morning though.

So why did you say interview in the opening post of the thread then? Don’t forget then that everything runs less frequently to get there for 6am. If it’s an induction, you still don’t want to be late.

A follow up question. TFL doesn’t explain this, but if you tap in a station at off peak (Let’s say 05:30) but you tap out at peak (lets say 07:00), do you get charged for the peak fare because you tapped out during peak or do you get charged for off-peak only because you started the journey at off peak.

It's when you touch in so you will be charged to off peak fare.

You will get charged off peak fare. My sister leaves for work and taps in just before 6:30am and she gets charged the off peak fare
