From what I can gather they charge their own fares to the extreme when it comes to Tube Strikes and special events to take advantage. According to the media some drivers have got their licences illegally safety comes to mind!. Just noticed I spelt that wrong just ammend it 🤦♀️

Admittedly Uber take it to the extreme sometimes but it’s a basic principle that entire economies are built on.

I'd rather have a bus if that's the case - yes it might be slower but it's cheaper but even if they charge outer London bus fares, it would be less than cabbies who purposely drive into traffic to rack up the meter. After that, give me a regular minicab - we have some decent local firms around here.

I remember one time my driver took a wrong turn on the A3 by Shannon Corner and had to go all the way up to the Asda at Roehampton Vale to correct the route, did it cost me a penny no because I could straight away complain and Uber could see through the tracking that he made a mistake. In a black cab you couldn’t do this, how on earth do you prove it? Not to mention the cost is obscene. I fully avoid black cabs and minicabs with meters for the sole reason that the drivers can charge you their own route and rack up fares. Uber is brilliant and is great for reminding black cabs they don’t own the trade.

My honest thoughts about Uber is mixed.
On one hand in 2014 when I first knew about them it was good as it was more of an American thing to use them and executive people were mostly using them. They only came into prominence in 2015 when more people started to catch on with it. Plus it was more cheaper to use them to get around.
On the other hand they can be a pain to be in where you need to be at a place by a certain time and they deliberately drive slow so they can try and take as much money from you. To make matters worse when i'm driving back home from various places some even try and take up two lanes so you can't move past them thus causing an obstruction.
So really it depends what driver you get on the day when using them. I feel like with Black cabs if they weren't more on the meter side of things then more people would use them a lot more. The one thing about London that many UK cities envy us for is frequent transport links. Other places like Milton Keynes for example if you don't have a car in that area you definitely need to use an uber over there as it's very difficult to get around that area with no car.

Agreed I would in fact use both bus and mini cab both Uber and the mini cab service is sometimes expensive depending on where you are going and sometimes slow but that could be said about the bus yes its cheaper but that can be slow at points

Like they gonna make all those people unemployed...they kind of had no choice here I reckon, maybe take away corona crisis would have been another story. I am personally not bothered by Uber, apart from the fact that they're driving hazards lol.

After using Uber for the first time over the lockdown I do find that I like their system in principal as they are very user friendly with the phone app. However i do question 'some' of their drivers who appear not to know (or acknowledge) highway code practices, let alone not knowing which way they should be going. Black taxis are just as bad i grant you but at least they stand out more in the traffic for you to be cautious of.
Uber need to step up regarding general driving practices of their employees.
