IF night tube returns I doubt it will be this year as has been mentioned as staffing levels are starting to drop to under establishment numbers ( caused by people retiring/ quitting etc) the first priority is to train full time drivers once training can resume fully once that has been done then think about four months to train new t/ops then train fresh new applicants for night tube again. Lack of t/ops is starting to affect normal rostering let alone any COVID scenarios and needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency as the amount or retirees is set to increase South Wimbledon Station is an example of the normal rostering issue, the station often closing earlier at night. It doesn't open till 7am at the moment either

LU sending message to Staff this evening re-Waterloo & City Line: Excellent news! I'm really hopeful for a near normal summer. The vaccine rollout has been amazing and put us in a great position. I think the government are downplaying how well things are going and know we are going to meet both the May and June targets for easing restrictions. I'm seeing lots more positive comments from people keen to return to the office too. I was in central London Sunday and it was sad to see so many closed down businesses. Bring on summer.

Wish I shared your confidence ... about 5 days behind, but the interactive map is showing 7 day rises in a number of areas, albeit marginal increases, but these seem to outweigh the decreases by quite a bit. Although not in favour of it, but think they need to establish why the numbers are rising and fix it before the numbers get out of hand and opening up more of the UK. Need to be like Australia and crack down on these small outbreaks. That said, we are currently doing d*mn well in comparison to a lot of other countries, so yes we are doing well, but could be doing better.

Australia is able to do these mini isolated lockdowns because the major population centres are spread out and far between each other. For example Sydney is set over a similar area to London but it’s population is 1/3. Even New Zealand is similar in the sense that there is nothing between the cities except tiny, tiny towns with one shop and half a dozen houses. Compare that to the UK where cities and towns coexist and it just wouldn’t work. Get on a motorway here and you will reach a large population centre every 40 odd miles, go to New Zealand and it’s hours between each major population of more than 50 people, likewise Australia. Once you leave a city and it’s metropolitan area there is nothing except tiny towns largely focused on agriculture or mining.

If we need to go into another lockdown as the nation shares your lethargical views I will be absolutely fuming. OK, each country is different, but looking at what each country that is doing well is doing, is an obvious educational tool to me. Learn the positives of other nations so we can return to a sense or normality that does not have to regress again.

If we did go into another lockdown, blame all the anti vaccine & anti lockdown idiots who ignore all restrictions. Currently we are returning to a normality only because the government haven’t managed to screw up the vaccine rollout...yet but it will be people not doing as they are told who potentially set us back and not because @busenthusiast56 wrote a post on here explaining differences between Australia & UK

Maybe the W&C will extend its opening hours by then, possibly to Mon-Sat except late evenings?

You are right, but arguably the time to have done the Bank upgrade was during Covid-19 when passenger number were down.

The station upgrade isn't cosmetic, it is a huge project and is taking place over several years. The non-stopping of the Northern Line cannot proceed until other stages of the project have been completed or are sufficiently advanced.

The Bank station upgrade project requires a full suspension of the Northern Line Moorgate-Kennington 15 January 2022-15 May 2022. W&C to re-open on 21 June W&C trains start running empty on 14 June 2021 with TTN139/21, passenger services resume on 21 June

Similar to in the late 90s when there were extra 133's. Would have been ideal of they could have done that in lockdown.
