I found the interview on the BBC a bit insulting to taxi drivers when they said they wanted financial help from TfL and the GLA as Liverpool helped its taxi drivers. Their response was they offered free mental health advice for drivers and also where to seek help from the government itself. London taxis stored in fields as passenger demand 'evaporates'www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-54974425

Bus companies are still recruiting, which could be a stop gap for some drivers.

I am sure many would be deterred by "training costs" need to be repaid if they leave within 1 year etc. I am sure many of the taxi drivers if they took a stop-gap job would look at it is a short term thing with a means to return back to cabbing when all restrictions are lifted.
