D&G Bus, which was formed in 1998 to operate contracted services in Stoke-on-Trent, is to acquire Arriva's Cannock depot and services from close of service on 9th January 2021. The company sold its Staffordshire operations to Wardle Transport in 2011 but bought them back in 2015.
Julian Peddle's Centrebus acquired shares in D&G in December 2019, but D&G is operated separately and will continue to be so for the time being.
Arriva will continue to operate route 5 in Stafford, and will also continue to operate services between Tamworth and Lichfield.

There had been a rumour of Cannock - Walsall routes passing to National Express West Midlands, as NXWM already run express buses Cannock - Walsall - Birmingham but this is no longer destined to happen.
It is refreshing to see a takeover / divestment for the first time in a while.

D&G Bus is to resurrect the "Chaserider" name, which was originally coined by Midland Red in National Bus Company days as a local identity for its Cannock area operations. The name is taken from Cannock Chase, a forested Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) that was once a royal hunting ground. Cannock Chase is also the name of the local District Council.
