Avanti West Coast has refurbished its fleet of 20 Voyager units, the units were refurbished at Bombardier's premises in Ilford.
The units will continue to operate with Avanti West Coast until 2022 when they will be replaced by Hitachi class 805 and 807 units.
At Euston, the ramp leading to platforms 8-11 is to be widened to reduce congestion, presumably this will be done by removing the shop units.

Due to a landslip near Rugby, the West Coast Main Line has been closed and all Avanti West Coast trains are being diverted via Northampton until the line is repaired.
To help reduce congestion, London Northwestern has agreed to suspend its hourly London Euston - Crewe service and additional stops at Nuneaton, Tamworth and Lichfield Trent Valley have been added to Avanti West Coast services.

An attempt was done yesterday (17/6) to break the record for the fastest journey between London and Glasgow. Unfortunately they failed by 21 seconds as they were apparently hampered by a temporary speed limit. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-57511346

Network Rail is advising of changes to services between 17th July and 31st August, due to HS2 construction work affecting platforms and lines at Euston station. Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern are advising of changes to services on their websites, especially at weekends when on some dates only two (out of six) approach lines will he available. There will also be cancellations affecting some London Overground services, especially early mornings and late evenings.
The work is being co-ordinated with the ongoing West Coast Upgrade project.

It could be bad over the August Bank Holiday as at least on the Sunday the line to St Pancras is closed south of Luton too.

Avanti West Coast has taken its first class 390 Pendolino unit out of service for refurbishment and upgrade. All 56 units will be transformed by the £117 million project which will see the trains restored to "as new" condition.
The work includes converting one first class coach in each formation to standard, the installation of a new café-bar and additional luggage accommodation.
The units have covered 270 million miles in service and are widely regarded as the hardest-working trains in the UK. The first refurbished unit (390 125) will leave Alsthom in Widnes later this year and the final unit is due to be completed by February 2024.

Having used Avanti over the weekend I noticed they have introduced Standard Premium in addition to First Class. They were offering upgrades on existing tickets for £25 per person on the way home yesterday. This seems rather expensive for a table and roomier seat! I assume this service has taken over 1 carriage per train meaning even less space for standard class! The service is always busy so can't help but think this is a bad move loosing so much space.
Has anyone used the new carriages?

Are they not using a former First Class carriage for this rather than a Standard one?

The trains used to have two first class carriages if I remember correctly? They used to have three First Class coaches, Coaches H, J and K on both 9 and 11 car. I think it's Coach H that's been converted to Standard Premium and this will be enhanced once the Pendolino refurbs are in full swing.

Nope, only used the standard carriages back in the summer when I went Scotland - I'm hoping LUMO look at the West Coast Line given there has been some initial good reviews of them on the East Coast Line with their new service, would love a cheap Glasgow ticket.

I suddenly realise how fortunate I was that there was a respectable service to/from Euston on Easter Monday 2013. I am considering a day in London for Saturday June 4th, in the middle of the Jubilee weekend. I wonder what engineering works if any will be happening then. I doubt they have been decided on yet.

Network Rail has stated that they will avoid major projects over the Jubilee weekend, so that people can make travel plans for that weekend with confidence. Large numbers of travellers are expected over the four days. They are also avoiding major projects during the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham during July and August.
