i understand that, Tony. Rotala need good save investment and acquisition to buy in England. i think Rotala will be panic if lost route in Bolton route. Im not sure Go ahead North West will be not happy. Rotala/Diamond Bus still have a chance of winning the main North Greater Manchester franchise, and I would have thought Stagecoach would be in the running for the main South Greater Manchester franchise. It's still not clear what the status of cross-border routes will be. They may be operated under a service agreement, given a permit, or possibly both depending on the route or operator. I also imagine that TfGM will have the authority to contract cross-border routes where there is no operator willing to take them on commercially. Interesting times ahead ......

Oh dear, Diamond Bus North west lookin like have a problem with investement before go North west take over. Diamond bus NW need wake up to save passenger on the route before april. Martyn Give that Diamond have been awarded 2 small franchises in the area, a good clause would have been that they only take these if they respectfully maintain their current operations until Go North West come in.

Given that TfGM are buying the buses and keeping them in the pool of buses for those routes, they could be reallocated sooner or later, especially once the 50 electric buses arrive. I can't help predicting that in eventually all buses will be yellow with identical interiors regardless of franchisee.
In London we are fortunate that operators have a say in their interiors and up to a point in which manufacturers they select.

We have uniform interior looks for every transport mode except buses. It would create a clear and unified brand if TfL used the same interior on every bus. Personally I really liked the interior used on TA1 as opposed to the LT interior. The one used on TA1 was light, fresh and really complimented the exterior well. Instead we have a hodgepodge of interiors, slightly different shades of red depending on the vehicles age and different logos. Frankly the only indication of difference should be the legal lettering to identify the operator and the fleet code.

It has now been confirmed that Go North West will set up a temporary depot and will operate 26 ex-London Volvo/Evosetis on emergency TfGM contracts. The depot space will be available from 16th April until 24th September. Go Ahead will of course be operating the main Bolton and Wigan franchise from 17th September. Diamond Bus North West is expecting 60 new single deck and 8 new double deck vehicles for its smaller TfGM contracts in Bolton and Wigan. Some of the buses may enter service before the start of the contract if they arrive early.

Go Goodwins announced on Friday 21st that all its "Little Gem" contracted services for TfGM would cease after service on Saturday 22nd April. Although TfGM has been awarding emergency contracts to other operators, a few routes remain uncovered. The company is citing unsustainable losses as the reason for its decision. TfGM claims to have been caught unawares by the announcement, although Go Goodwins says that it has been warning TfGM of potential problems for months. As well as sseking help to restructure its contracts and reduce losses, the company has also cited driver uncertainty, with some leaving for other companies that they perceive as more likely to win contracts in future ternering rounds. It is worth noting that Little Gems is a separate company to Go Goodwins, which is still very much operational and still in good financial health. One route operated on behalf of East Cheshire Council has been transferred to the Go Goodwins O-licence and continues to operate. www.route-one.net/news/little-gem-owner-hits-back-over-closure-of-bus-operation/

The first of 50 BYD B8UR/Alexander Dennis Enviro400EV H62F electric double deckers has been handed over to Transport for Greater Manchester. Although the buses will be operated by Go North West, they are in full Bee Network yellow livery and make no mention of the operator. The buses are funded from the government’s City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement. A further 300 will arrive between 2024 and 2027. TfGM is building a 250-vehicle electric-ready depot in Central Park, Manchester, and will take over existing depots as the Bee Network is rolled out.
A further 170 electric vehicles (150 Volvo BZL double deckers and 20 single deckers) have been ordered by Stagecoach to operate out of Stockport.
Meanwhile, Rotala Diamond Bus North West has ordered 60 ADL Enviro200 MMC single deckers (yes, diesels) in Bee Network livery for the smaller contracts in Wigan and Bolton, these are expected in early 2024. This replaces the original planned order for 60 Volvo B8RLE/MCV Evora as the ADL vehicles can be delivered more quickly. 20600-20624 will be 9.7m B27F and 30650-30684 will be 11.8m B37F. Eight double-deckers are also reportedly on order.
Some older vehicles are now starting to appear in Bee Network livery.

Go North West has launched a huge campaign to recruit more bus drivers. Said to be the biggest ever in the UK, the plan is to recruit up to 300 drivers who will go through a new Elite Bus Driver Academy. The "Be an Elite Driver" campaign features Top Gun-inspired publicity, with eight different images of drivers wearing pilot-style epaulettes and aviator sunglasses. These are being used in vinyl wraps on the sides og Go North West buses. An example (photo not mine): flic.kr/p/2oFi876

I’m a little late to the party on this franchising of bus services by TfGM in Manchester, I know they’re doing it, and understandably Stagecoach aren’t too happy about it, but not too clued up other than that.
I go to Manchester quite a lot as my best friend moved up there for uni and subsequently settled there permanently, and lives on the very famous 192 bus route.
When is the 192 going to be incorporated into the franchising? And how long will the contracts be before being renewed again? Can’t wait to see this unfold and if Stagecoach get to keep Manchester’s most prized and famous bus route!
