Another one that doesn’t put buses needs first - anything coming from Old Broad Street is effectively routed elsewhere as a result. I thought the current scheme at that junction limited it to just cycles, buses & taxis? Why waste yet more money if the current scheme is working?

I didn't even have to read it to see they don't care about buses in that area another waste of money. It is limited to buses cycles and taxis but that's only during the peak I think?

I wonder if the speculation about cutting the 43 back to Moorgate is linked to this proposal?

Routes 8, N8 and N242 would divert via the southern end of Bishopsgate and Cornhill in both directions as Threadneedle Street would be closed to buses. Routes 11, N11, 26 and N26 would divert via the southern end of Bishopsgate and Cornhill, and then via Poultry and Queen Street in both directions as Queen Victoria Street would not be accessible from Bank Junction. Route 133 would divert via London Wall, Bishopsgate and Gracechurch Street in both directions and would bypass Bank Junction altogether. Princes Street, King William Street, Cornhill and Poultry would all remain open to buses in both directions. I can smell the Lycra brigade running riot frankly. The pedestrians can also go for a toss frankly Just pedestrianise (basically plant cycle lanes everywhere) the entire square mile while you are at it

Sad really the pandemic has changed things for the worse IMO. Looks like the old London has gone

Sad really the pandemic has changed things for the worse IMO. Looks like the old London has gone The City of London has been reinventing itself ever since it was first established as a trading post by the Roman Empire, and will continue to do so. It's post-covid incarnation is likely to be far more mixed-use, with a bigger residential population, a greater emphasis on the arts, and more tourism.

I don't even bother going against this (although I really want to), there doesn't seem to be much of a point anymore if so many boroughs (even a county, in this case) want to turn their areas into a standstill by diverting tons of traffic to already congested roads.
If they do go ahead with this, I hope the City put some effort and not just scatter planters everywhere like they do in outer London, put some pavement and make it look decent.

What’s that! !!) and while he’s pushing people politely to come back, it’s not as pushy as it was previously! Even I was quite keen on going back back in Feb (it had become crazily busy) but now I can’t bring myself to haul back in office wear and back into office in zone 1 all days in the week. Ultimately the model will evolve to go to 3-4 days of office, 1-2 days of home. Depends on what the role is

Another pathetic arty farty piece of garbage. As usual no point in a public consultation, these insulting consulations just add fuel to fire. Only in this loony city we have we get pathetic measures like this. This would never happen in sensible world class cities around the world.

I wonder if the speculation about cutting the 43 back to Moorgate is linked to this proposal? I’ve come to the conclusion Central London’s bus network is effectively in managed decline now, with schemes looking to pedestrianise the centre. TfL have been hacking away at the bus network at Bank for years now - think 76, 242, 388. I wouldn’t be surprised if a north-south route were removed, 43 being cut to Moorgate is a possibility or the 141 could also be cut back there. Can also see an east-west route going, I’ve thought for a while TfL may look to do something to the 11/26 which parallel one another from Aldwych to Liverpool Street and I could see the 11 being cut back to Aldwych/St Paul’s.
