No doubt the news would have spread by now.
The country has lost a very important person today

Desperately sad news. A remarkable man who led a remarkable life from fighting Nazis and being honoured for it in WW2 to dedicating his life in service of our country to being a loyal, devoted, supportive husband to our Queen for so many years. He will be sorely missed
RIP Prince Philip

RIP to His Royal Highness, Prince Philip. A man who exemplified, with distinction, what it meant to serve one's country. The fact he did it til his 90s really showed his devotion to his position and to his country. One of my personal favourite little facts about the DofE is that he continued to send letters in support to Princess Diana after her divorce from Prince Charles in 1996, right up until her death a year later in 1997.
Sending thoughts to all those in the Royal Family, most of all Her Majesty the Queen, whom Philip was married to for over 70 years.

Very sad news today, unfortunately it had been coming as Prince Philip had been in poor health for some time. Nevertheless, he fought on despite the various health issues he has had over the past 10 years. His tireless 7 decades of service to this country will never be forgotten and he leaves behind a lasting legacy, especially to young people through the Duke of Edinburgh award. I heard the news while I was at work, and announcements were played at Kings Cross station to pay tribute to him, which I thought was a nice touch, especially as he and The Queen took the train from there to Kings Lynn to reach Sandringham frequently. My thoughts are with the Queen and the rest of the royal family during this incredibly sad time.
RIP His Royal Highness.

Very sad to hear of HRH's passing today. We have been working on 'operation Forth Bridge' for the past few weeks as a result of his stay in hospital a short while back, however it is nonetheless tragic and certainly a shock when the alert comes through that it's actually happened. The worst news; something that nobody wishes for. May he rest in peace. TransPennine Express seemed to be doing the same when he was in hospital and that was evident when a message on their website announcing the death of Prince Philip was mistakenly published on March 4th! The same message is now displayed on their website...
