The Harry Kane saga rumbles on, as he's trying to get Manchester City to buy him... sadly, like the buses on the 318, he's not leaving Tottenham for at least 4 years despite failing performance issues and a higher age profile

Barcelona have just announced that Messi won't sign for them and is now a free agent. How has this happened then?

It's going to be very weird seeing him at another club That other club could well be Manchester City, who have dropped interest in Kane quicker than Spurs dropped Gattuso in their desperate manager hunt in June Spurs are still strengthening their squad, and are looking for more signings. I wonder where a wantaway Kane will fit into proceedings? At least Grealish turned up for his training with Villa before he got the deal done with City. I think Kane's credibility is shot now. Spurs managed okay in their friendly against Chelski though we have no back like a chef's apron and desperately need to improve our defence

You only started to play when we brought on the likes of Bakayoko and Zappacosta

Spanish salary cap ... they could not register his new contract as they were already in breach of it. There is speculation that it's all a power play as La Liga lose ratings if Messi leaves and they are hoping Tebas caves in over the salary cap business. The irony though is Barca could afford to register Messi if they and fellow idiotic club Real Madrid didn't openly reject the CVS deal with La Liga which would of seen Barca net £200m. Oh and whilst I mention Madrid, I believe they aren't out of the woods yet over the salary cap as I believe they are in breach of it as well, just not on the same level as Barca. Personally, it serves them right for sticking people on stupid wages as well as paying stupid transfer fees they clearly couldn't afford and then wondering why your wage bill outstrips your revenue

First weekend of the Championship. I was in the Shepherd's Bush area and there were a lot of QPR fans this afternoon, despite it pouring with rain in London today. The crowds were massive, and a lot of police were involved. Lots of people shouting, swearing, massive crowds at the pubs along Uxbridge Road even as far as Acton Vale. I guess football fans are excited because I believe this is the first league match weekend where crowds like these are allowed to gather in places like pubs and stadiums.

And now the big one is back today. Bees vs the Gunners. Thoughts and predictions folks? AH beat HT 2 nil Seems very 'Spursy' but spending 50 million on a player from Brighton was going to be a gamble Well done Brentford, welcome to the big time. Great defending as well. I wonder what other shocks we'll see? Will 'Chocolate Ankles' get his dream move to Manchester City? I can't see Kane playing tomorrow, and Nuno only wants people who are committed to the squad. So behind the "Harry is our player. Period" is a very different narrative
