A campaign group, Berlin Autofrei (Car-Free Berlin), has submitted a people's petition with over 50,000 signatures calling for a near-complete car ban convering the 88 sq.km (34 sq.mile) area witbin the S-bahn ring rail line - that is an area roughly equal in size to London's Travelcard zones 1 & 2. People who need a car for their trade, or because of impaired mobility, would be exempt, as would the emergency services. Everyone else would be permitted up to twelve rented car journeys a year. Doubt that will happen. Extinction Rebellion, when reading this, now have a cunning plan to demand to ban cars, at this level, in the UK and they will probably burn cars as 'peaceful protest.'
