I have recently moved to a IPhone 13 after using Android phones since 2011. I have noticed a few odd things happening with my phone not sure if it’s a bug in the ICloud back up. I set my phone up a few weeks ago and I was thinking of sending it back as I had seen better deals elsewhere so I wiped it. Then this weekend I decided to keep the so set phone up as new not downloading anything from the initial backup, all seemed okay until I noticed last night all my old call data had suddenly appeared. How did this happen if I set the phone up as new? The call history wasn’t there yesterday.
I consider my self a IT geek but IOS has me stumped on occasions.

I refuse to use iCloud, I just use the manual back up in iTunes instead. Cloud works much better on something like my Xbox One & PS5

Apparently iCloud stores call data for four months, so if you log back in with it after a reset and setting up as a new phone it will still restore the call log if your Apple ID is restored.

So my apps are organised into group boxes like games, social media etc. It would be far too time consuming to have to reorganise it every time I got a new phone, even if it is only every 2-3 years. Having it means I can restore from backup and keep the same layout without having to fiddle around with it too much.

Using my manual back up, I’ve not had to organise any of my phones as I still get the same layout I previously had which is great.
