Great way to start with a picture of a Stagecoach bus, they have no routes in the area There's little wiggle room to increase bus stops or widen roads, Haringey Council just put new pavement down and rebuilt the Holcombe Road fish market near the Santander bank, there's limited paving or road space. 318 should be improved with new buses replacing the teenage ones currently in service, save for cameo appearances from MMCs desperately borrowed from the W4 due to buses off road or breakdowns, buses frequently run with blank blinds (I assume manual rollers seized), a new order of diesel MMCs should allowed, or purchase of some MMCs from elsewhere ie Dawsonrentals as the 318 needs the shortest ones possible to tight turns on the route. (No charging infrastructure at Tottenham garage) Move the allocation to Wood Green where it will be okay to use the newer MMCs. W4 may not see that much more passengers, Broadwater Farm is being partially demolished, some of the older blocks going, some new apartments being being built near the school. As works progress, I assume the W4 will be diverted down Lordship Lane. 279/349 Spurs owner Daniel Levy is also planning to build a cinema near the junction of White Hart Lane and the High Road, it seems a more audacious plan than buying players this transfer window for Antonio Conte... seems the plan is housing for up to 72 families plus 4 screen cinema in the pipeline. Planning permission has only just been granted, not sure when works will begin. Sometimes these things take years, look at time taken to build housing at Meridian Water (Northumberland Park)... TfL are making a lot of plans despite their financial state considering passenger numbers are still dropping, massive bus stops will just cause more traffic...

I actually welcome this, as sometimes 3 or 4 buses turns up together and just the first two can serve the stop with the others waiting behind holding up traffic. The Stagecoach bus 12423 in the picture is outside of Bow bus garage.

I used to live near BW, I miss the variety on the 8 back in the day of the Euro3 Tridents, or fast Scania engined RMs It could be done, but I think there won't be much impact in terms of passenger numbers. It fluctuates, they aren't carrying many passengers in the daytime when everyone is at work or school. Delivery drivers may have an issue unless there are more loading bays provided. Backstreets off Dowsett Rd where the 318 goes aren't really suitable for them to park. Roads are tight. Unless they reduce pavement width I don't know how they will pull this one off. As for coping with crowds for the football, it will be interesting to see how this gets done. A side point, if any sort of electrification comes to either AR or WN, the new Mellor electric single deckers featured in the latest Buses mag might be ideal for the 318 (if GAL don't snatch the route by then )

I know its not a huge length difference but the stop has probably become more congested with longer LTs on the 76, 149, 259 and 349 now plus maybe even introduced on another route along there (279/476) if alot more become spare.

Route 476 seems almost inevitable as it mainly duplicates 73 & 149. Route 243 also looks destined for LTs, as it largely duplicates routes 55, 68 & 149 among others.

Whislt the 243 would need alot of LTs (30+) it would free up a sizable amount of hybrids for use else where, which with Arriva having alot of buses needing replacement over the next few years would be a way of saving having to buy a few new ones.
