Me too I didn't have a problem with the old name. It will always be Black Boy Lane to me Will the road sign now read "Rose Lane (formerly Black Boy Lane)"?

It will always be Black Boy Lane to me Will the road sign now read "Rose Lane (formerly Black Boy Lane)"? Maybe. There are a couple of roads in London that have changed names and kept their old names underneath but that may differ from each Borough

That is interesting. I still wonder how the 67 routemasters is still able to make the full turn into West Green Road from there. I will always remember that road as Black Boy Lane.

Please tell me the change is not to do with what I think it is? Would you like to elaborate? The fact of what the actual name means and how some might somehow be offended by it

Would you like to elaborate? The fact of what the actual name means and how some might somehow be offended by it I see. The family didn't even want the the area named after him and they said it would be a waste of money.

If the thinking of Haringey Council spreads across London then you might find that White City has to be renamed.

If the thinking of Haringey Council spreads across London then you might find that White City has to be renamed. I guess you have to make a distinction between things which are actually offensive / racist and things just named after colours or without prejudice Else Brownlow street / road, brownfield street, browning road, Blackheath, Blackfen, blackwall, Blackfriars, whitefriars, Whitechapel…..

I have to be careful with my wording but do feel the world is easily offended by everything now. I do wonder if they would include the former name on the new signs especially if being changed because it was causing offense.
I really hope this is not taken out of context.
