Well they aren’t wrong. And even where there are driver facilities, sometimes they are grim as hell *cough* Bromley North *cough*

Bang on, I am amazed that there aren't more provisions for toilets. When I was with GAL and we took up the 232, I was shocked that under ML there was no toilet at St Raphael's. Can easily spend over 2hrs30 doing a round trip. Same went for the 76. Not to be graphic but driving a bus I likes to remain hydrated, on the count of the 18,000kg vehicle I was driving.
I'd actually be interested to know of any drivers who stopped to 'go' mid route. I know when I was with First out of London people did.
As the article says, it's a basic human right and shouldn't be something that has to be an issue

I remember hearing from someone I know who used to drive the 12 that London bus drivers were allowed to wee on the back wheel of their bus if they needed to and that was bought in towards the end of the last century. I've no idea if this is actually true though.

Hopefully things have improved a bit since then and drivers should have access to toilet facilities at least at one end of the route and at both ends for any long routes. It can be a problem in any driving job and there really should be more public toilets about.

Not only that…if you’re given 4 mins recovery time how is that long enough to walk to the nearest facilities ( inside shopping centres for example). Staines Bus Stn is an example of this .

If any recovery time at all. I did an end to end of the 210 recently and the driver left for Finsbury Park straight away after terminating! Definetly an issue that should be looked into

Every route I have driven has at least 1 toilet at the end however some would only be open during opening hours example Bluewater and Woolwich.

As I watch a lot of bus route timelapses (this is how I learn routes mainly if I haven't tried them), one 353 timelapse (towards Forestdale) involved the driver needing to go at Addington Village. Shame said driver couldn't wait for Forestdale, seemingly just down the road, or just gone at Ramsden. Timelapse of 353 discussed in this post: www.youtube.com/watch?v=URtUzlDZFRc

A lot of them are starting to appear, example there is now one in Clapham Common behind the fire station and in Elephant & Castle near the 45 & 360 bus stands.

There was a driver toilet installed at Forestdale however it was removed because residents complained and called it a “Turdis”. The 353 has scheduled running time at Addington Village for Toilet breaks. There are no toilets at Ramsden Estate either...

It was never said that we could leave the bus with passengers unattended for it though they never said we couldn't...
