For those interested, it actually took place on Brixton Hill and not in Brixton or Streatham Hill and the exact location was by the Holmewood Road bus stop

Happy to hear nobody was hurt, more so as sounded like fire spread fairly quick. Seems easy to assume was caused by the scorching heat and/or an failed cooling system?
On an enthusiast level, sad to see HV4 will most likely be withdrawn. Wanted to give most of this batch at least one ride, more so as was impressed with how HV5 performed given its age at 12/13 years as an early prototype.

A random fact about HV4 is that it switched registrations with HV3 in early 2010 (LJ09KOH was originally HV3's reg). That leaves us with only 5 Eclipse Gemini 1s left in London, as they do indeed qualify as that according to build logs. That’s correct, you can tell by the front styling and the way the the side windows have double hoppers rather than one long single

I do not recall a fire on a London bus ever causing anyone to be injured. No matter how much they could spread, there would be more than enough time to get out. The only way I can see people being injured is those that may walk close to the engine or fire itself, to take videos.

This bus was on route 333 when it caught fire.
By way of a true story, East Yorkshire bus 666 caught fire a few years ago.
On both occasions it was inevitable that 999 would be dialled.

This heatwave might cause more fires than we expect. How many fires have we had this year already? The PB fire weren't that long ago.

This heatwave might cause more fires than we expect. How many fires have we had this year already? The PB fire weren't that long ago. Fires generally fall into two categories: Arson (deliberate); or sloppy maintenance Arson and deliberate is more a society thing, and probably stays at a fairly constant level Sloppy maintenance covers most of the others. Basically to start a fire need 3 things : heat, fuel, and oxygen. Items that get hot should not get near combustible items, they only do that when get fluids spilt (and not cleaned up), or split or detached hoses (careless preventative maintenance), electrical cables coming detached, or insulation getting chaffed (poor attention during maintenance) Even the Potters Bar fire seems to have been sloppy maintenance (reported verbally in TfL Board meeting that cause was human error with coolant)

The driver called the fire brigade and got the people off.
