Is it THAT hard to pay people what they deserve? They deserve more than 50 - 60K? Really?
I think I deserve more than I earn after hitting the top of my pay spine around 2010 but have to lump it and take the 1 or 2 % all staff get every year.

Is it THAT hard to pay people what they deserve? Nothing wrong with that within reason. The problem is it doesn’t help when some private businesses like Cadbury are handing out 17.5% pay rises. A 17.5% pay rise doesn’t change the rate of inflation, it makes it worse. Increasing wages ultimately increases costs of providing the product which leads to higher prices which negatively affects consumer confidence eventually leading to less jobs in certain industries. If this were a UK only issue I would say the government needs to tackle this but it is a problem emerging across the world not helped by Ukraine, Chinas continued lockdown of various regions and the general high container prices and freight rates, which is only now just stabilise, but not back to the considerably lower pre-pandemic prices. The only thing the government should do right now is to artificially lower electricity and wholesale gas prices which would help stabilise inflation. But higher wages for some will ultimately mean the majority will be worse off.

Is it THAT hard to pay people what they deserve? Are you going to pay for them?

I think you need to correct that figure of 50-60k because that doesn’t sound like that’s true at all?

I think you need to correct that figure of 50-60k because that doesn’t sound like that’s true at all? The national website says they can earn up to 65K, that doesn't include the pensions and free travel that come with it so in reality could be closer to 80K.

Is it THAT hard to pay people what they deserve? Remember rail costs are paid by the passenger. If you are happy to pay extra for your ticket, then you stick by your view. Simple fact is the cost of rail travel is too high. Maybe with the cost of petrol, it is no longer cheaper for the single person to travel ... but parity will be restore come the next fare rise. Nearly everyone thinks they are underpaid and deserve more, but you pay more, inflation rises, then costs get out of control. Do you really want the cost of everything to go up another 10% next year?

I have to laugh on occasions how certain people are trusted more than others.

It's not about trusted or anything - I'm allowed to dispute a figure that personally doesn't look right or must I simply just nod and agree? Stop with the paranoia
