I thought it might be for the best to have a separate thread for matters concerning the new King and the wider Royal Family, rather than posting on a thread which should be dedicated to the memory of The Late Queen.
Charles will be proclaimed King at 10am tomorrow (Saturday 10th September) when he will swear an oath at St James' Palace in the presence of Privy Counsellors. He will then make his first public Proclamation as King. The ceremony will be televised for the first time in history.
It has been confirmed that Camilla will use the title "Her Majesty", and will be known as her Majesty The Queen Consort. She will be crowned alongside the King at his Coronation. This was the express wish of The Late Queen.

The Queens own coronation occurred around 15 months after she took the throne but given it is only a ceremony and he is already king there is no rush so they could push it to occur Spring 2024.

I thought the first address to the nation by King Charles III was very moving and captured how we all feel and gave a glimpse of what future speeches will look like.

What are your thoughts on the coronation? Personally I'm not a royal fan and didn't bother to go but I don't dislike them either. I don't agree with the 'not my king' protests though.
Not too much of a fan of having an extra bank holiday apart from reduced traffic on the roads.
What was interesting was seeing Harry being so distanced from everyone else in the family, it's like he didn't want to be there! It just goes to show how strained the relationship between him and Charles/William is.

Don’t care, I think it’s pointless and painfully boring to wake up at 4am or stay up overnight just to stand in a massive crowd for hours, in the rain, unlikely to get any good view with all the umbrellas and tons of people around but to each their own. Same with the Queen’s funeral with people queuing for ages…

I don’t have an issue with the protests providing they don’t make regular peoples lives a misery, the only time I did was during the Queen’s funeral period where I think it’s disrespectful to do such a thing in that moment

I think the Met might have dropped a clanger over the number of arrests and they're likely to be hit with a few claims. The Harry aspect is a bit of a circus but such rifts go on in many families.

You might not have been a fan of having a bank holiday but I certainly didn't complain about an extra days holiday from work. I am of course aware many have to work on bank holidays.
