After years of stating vaguely that it would be "pragmatic" about the issue, a speech today by Louise Haigh, the Shadow Transport Minister, at the Labour Conference in Liverpool has stated clearly that the Labour Party in power will be committed to bringing Britain's railways back into public ownership. This provides clarity on Labour policy regarding public ownership, and is considered a big win for Haigh who has been campaigning on the issue. Labour will also commit to building new lines in the North of England, delivering the Northern Powerhouse Rail and HS2 in full. leftfootforward.org/2022/09/louise-haigh-labour-in-power-will-bring-our-railways-back-into-public-ownership/

South Eastern is one of the nationalised rail companies and look at the stick it is getting on here. I remember what the dark days of British Rail and Network South East was like.
