www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-scotland-64648879Quite surprised to hear this but it seems to be another case of politicians who gave it their all then decided to resign after being tired of the job, like Jacinda Ardern did last month. Although the failures of Scottish independence and the fact that the economy isn't great at the moment.

Good riddance, hopefully the notion of independence falls away with her like it seems to be in recent polls carried out.

It also goes to show how much weakness there is in British government and it's been like that with the Tories ever since Brexit, especially with two new Pms in the last 6 months At least some good news is that Jeremy Corbyn has been banned from standing as a Labour candidate in the next election

Strange thing about Labour's decision to not have Jeremy Corbyn running for them in the election next year is that on the video so many people are saying that they won't vote Labour now or that the Labour Party has gone backwards! youtu.be/OOgjk98lIDk

The SNP still seem likely to win elections in Scotland for some time to come, even if by a narrower margin.
Many voters, even if they don't want independence, consider the SNP to be their first choice of party for many other issues.
While the independence referendum did galvanise support for the SNP, her leadership did help. She was leader for 3 General Elections. To compare and contrast, before she took over they were lucky to get as many as 11 seats. However, during her reign they were unlikely to get as few as 35 seats.

People aren't actively going to turn away just because Sturgeon is gone, but will probably turn away should the new leader not live up to the values they voted for SNP with last time.

Scotland is at something of a crossroads. Support for and against independence runs at around 50/50, but independence doesn't have to be all or nothing, and the SNP has had considerable success in getting increased devolvement - a leader advocating "Devo Max" could be in a very strong position. Scotland also has to make a decision sooner or later. At the moment it can be in a Free Trade Area with the rest of the UK, or it can be in a Free Trade Area with the European Union. It can't be both, as N Ireland is discovering. However for the Scottish people to vote for independence on the basis of joining the EU, would mean that the EU would have to give Scotland a cast-iron guarantee that its application would be accepted (and fast-tracked).

Support for the SNP has started dropping off alongside support for independence due to their performance in government in Scotland and a waning appetite for independence at this current moment - their performance in government to rival the Tories down here. It’s up to Labour and others to capitalise on that

If say just 10 current SNP seats are lost back to Labour, it will increase Labour's chance of having a majority. This would reduce Rishi or any Tory's argument about Labour depending on SNP votes to remain in office.

I suspect there will be a lot of vote changes to Alba and the Lib Dems I don’t see Scottish Labour or Scottish Tories regaining ground lost in the last few general elections. Labour are just as bad as the Tories across the whole country and as this point their leadership will be the same but with a different colour.

The domino effect of the fallout from the SNP continues. How long before Humza Yousaf resigns. If he loses more seats to Labour, Lib Dems and strangely Conservatives, he may not last to the elections next year.MP Lisa Cameron defects from SNP to ConservativesThe SNP's Lisa Cameron has announced her defection to the Conservatives.www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-67087840

The SNP is is further trouble. Following the collapse of the Bute House Agreement, which saw the Scottish Greens sharing power with the SNP in the Scottish Parliament, The SNP Leader Humza Yousaf is facing calls to resign. He faces a vote of No Confidence from the Scottish Labour Party, Scottish Conservatives and Scottish Greens, and Scottish Parliamentary elections in the near future are looking increasingly likely.
