Visual and audible onboard announcements will become compulsory on virtually all bus and coach services by October 2026. The Department of Transport has committed £4.65 million in funding to help smaller operators make the necessary upgrades. In addition, all new vehicles entering service after October 2024 must have a visual display that can be seen by a wheelchair user travelling in a rearward-facing wheelchair space. www.route-one.net/bus/onboard-bus-announcements-to-be-made-mandatory/

Surprised it's taking them this long considering Ibus in London has been around for over 15 years Life outside London is very different and neglected in many areas London still needs to amend its system, at the moment, the start of diversions are not displayed on the screens.

Life outside London is very different and neglected in many areas London still needs to amend its system, at the moment, the start of diversions are not displayed on the screens. Short term emergency diversions would be difficult to display, but long term diversions for more than a week for example should be displayed. This could be a limitation of the current iBus system so perhaps iBus 2 will solve this problem.

This is really good. I wonder if this will result in Bus Manufacturers offering up their own in house (or partnership) AV technology.
