Oh that explains where Hornby has ended up now and after his mysterious disappearance from Twitter since he went on a family holiday to Florida during the February Half Term.

Maybe McGills will expand out of Scotland and buy Blazefield from Transdev?

McGills is scaling back its Eastern Scottish business in West Lothian, where it has suffered sustained competition from Lothian Country and also from electrified rail services. It took the services over from First in late 2022 and implemented a network review in May 2023 which included the withdrawal of all Sunday services. Routes X22 and X24 between Livingston and Edinburgh will cease after Friday 14th October. Lothian Country 72, X27 and X28 and rail provide alternative links. Livingston local routes 21, 23, 25 and 26 will cease from 2nd December. McGill's is consulting with the local authority on these services. McGills is also consulting with staff and unions, although it appears some drivers are not waiting to be pushed as McGills is posting daily cancellations across its Eastern Scottish services. Routes 20, 63 and 68 which are operated on behalf of Edinburgh City Council are continuing unchanged. www.mcgillsscotlandeast.co.uk/cancellation-eastern-scottish-routes-21-23-25-26-x22-x24On a more positive note, the Unilink service for the University of Stirling has been upgraded and increased in frequency, running up to every 8 minutes in term time. The last bus on Mondays to Saturdays is at 03.15.

I have just come back from a week in Edinburgh, and the news of the service cuts, especially to Edinburgh, comes as no surprise.
It's not so easy to tell during the last week of September whether it's usually the case, but the Bright Bus Tours were definitely nowhere near as busy as the Lothian services either. Maybe they made all their money during the festival?
Running the tours and the three tendered routes from Livingston makes little sense to me. Hopefully somewhere nearer to the city can be found if the operations are to continue

They'll probably keep Livingstone now for the tenders and tours, not sure where their Flixbus routes are run from, but they could be moved into Livingstone as well. I do wonder if we'll see futher expansion of Lothian County to cover some of the gaps left not already covered when McGills leave the area

McGills may have scaled back its Eastern Scottish operation, but it is now taking on Lothian Buses and the Edinburgh Tram by starting a competing express service between Edinburgh Airport and the City Centre. The service, branded as Airport Express, is operated under the same Bright Bus banner as McGill's sightseeing tour operations. The vehicles used are ten-year-old ADL Enviro200 acquired with the First East Scotland business. They have been thoroughly refurbished, and are painted bright orange with prominent branding. The service operates up to every ten minutes. A single journey costs £4 and a return £6.50, which undercuts both Lothian Buses 100 and the tram. There are five stops in the City Centre, buses also call at Murrayfields Stadium and Edinburgh Zoo. www.route-one.net/news/mcgills-group-challenges-lothian-on-edinburgh-airport-route/
