Reading Green Park opened for business on Saturday 27th May. It is the first new station in the Reading area since Reading West was opened in 1906. Plans for the new station were announced in 2007; construction commenced in 2019 but progress was delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The station is served by GWR's half-hourly Reading-Basingstoke service, which is operated by three-car diesel units - hopes that the line would have been electrified by the time the station opened have not been realised. Cross Country Trains also pass through the station but do not stop.
Much of the demand for the station is likely to come from future developments. Green Park Business Park and much of the existing residential development of Green Park Village are some distance from the new station and are served directly by Reading Buses greenwave 50 route which runs every 15 minutes, but it is supported by the Business Park and does not currently run on Sundays (given the increasing number of residents moving into the area, this may be revisited).

Do any Reading Buses routes pass the station? Don’t know if it directly serves the station but route 50 serves the Green Park area

Do any Reading Buses routes pass the station? Not at the moment. Although there are bus stops marked out at the new station, greenwave 50 operates some distance away and Reading Buses currently has no plans to serve the station - although that may change.
