Big free bus weekend
As part of our Bus Service Improvement Plan we are offering free bus travel on all bus services running in Kent and Medway on the 24 and 25 June. This is just one of our initiatives to encourage the use of the bus.
This initiative has been made possible by UK government funding through Kent’s Enhanced Bus Partnership Schemes and has been coordinated to support the Kent Big Weekend which is promoting local tourist attractions with many offering free or reduced cost entry. If you are lucky enough to win a ticket via the Visit Kent Big Weekend scheme running the same weekend, you can now travel there for free by bus. So why not leave the car at home, hop on the bus and visit some of the many sites and attractions across Kent and Medway - or just visit friends and family.
All routes on local bus services within Kent and Medway will be free to travel on from the first bus in the morning until 8pm on both the Saturday and Sunday. There is no need for a ticket, just turn up and hop on. Buses which run outside the Kent or Medway boundary will be free to the boundary, after which you will need to pay the normal fare. English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS) passholders will not need to show their passes until 8pm or until they travel over the county boundary.
Bus companies offering free travel within Kent and Medway on the 24 and 25 June are:
Arriva
ASD
Autocar
Brighton and Hove
Chalkwell
Compass
Ensign Bus
Go Coach
Hams
Metrobus
Nu Venture
Red Route
Regent
Southdown
Stagecoach.
TfL buses are not included in this initiative.
