Arriva Czech signs 10-year contract for train operation in South Moravian region
Another contract win for us to celebrate!
Congratulations to Arriva Czech for securing a new 10-year rail contract in the South Moravian region of the Czech Republic. The trains will start to operate from December 2024. Arriva's established reputation in the Czech Republic, combined with a three-year track record of delivering high-quality passenger services in the neighbouring region of Zlín, led to the success with this bid.
It will serve passengers in South Moravia with 13 new Stadler GTW 2/6 trains with 100 seats and additional spaces for prams, wheelchairs, and bicycles. These low-floor air-conditioned trains will come equipped with a standardised information system, providing internet connectivity and conveniently placed sockets for charging small electronic devices.
Sian Leydon, our Group Managing Director for Mainland Europe, commented: “We are delighted that our team has been successful in securing a contract in a completely new region of the Czech Republic, growing our business there. This contract will expand on our presence in the neighbouring region of Zlín.”
Daniel Adamka, CEO of Arriva Czech Republic, said, "We couldn't have achieved this without the dedicated efforts of our team. This win will expand Arriva's presence in the new region of the Czech Republic and solidify our position as a leading private rail and bus operator. We are proud of this achievement."
This signing follows the recent 15-year rail contract awarded to operate services in the Pilsen region of Czech Republic.
