Pretty crazy with all this technology that super off peak fares can't be added to the system aswell , I initially thought it would mean cheaper journeys all round but too see some fares will increase as no super off peak is quite shocking , and then they will increase again in march if anything the super off peak fare should be the standard off peak fare and then keep the anytime fares as is , also dont see why the peak can't be adjusted to the tfl times aswell instead of starting at 04:00 .

According to someone who is the Vice-Chair of Darent Valley Community Rail Partnership, Southeastern have informed them that contactless PAYG is to go live and be made available between Knockholt/Swanley and Sevenoaks from 22nd September.

Strange how they can get this working but we are still waiting for the full c2c expansion everything is in place readers , fares been adjusted etc so wonder what the hold up is .

I think it might end up being the whole of phase 1 going live on 22nd September. Still not much use to me until the SW mainline/New Guildford line go contactless, but I’m willing to bet that will be right at the back of the queue.

Good to see that contactless is starting to be extended to more stations around the edge of London. Surprised it took so long for Denham to be included, which is only just outside the Greater London border (and the nearest station to Harefield which is inside Greater London). Though with the schemes already planned, there's still a number of gaps to be filled. For example with Contactless now covering up to High Wycombe, Amersham/Chesham and Luton, some more London Northwestern stations should ideally be added beyond Watford Junction. Certainly the full Abbey Line, and stations up to Hemel Hempstead, perhaps Berkhamsted and Tring as well? Elsewhere, the following would also be useful: - Greater Anglia to Harlow and maybe further to Stansted Airport, also on the GEML to Chelmsford - Southeastern to Gravesend (including HS1) - Southern to Oxted, Reigate and Dorking - SWR to all stations within the M25, ideally also further to Dorking, Woking, Bracknell, etc - GWR to branch lines off the Elizabeth Line

By Project Oval conclusion, the following lines should be contactless : Southeastern : all lines west and north west of Rainham, Maidstone East and West, and Tunbridge Wells, except for Tonbrdge - Maidstone West via Paddock Wood. GTR South : the entire Brighton line, Tonbridge - Redhill, all the East Grinstead line and the Uckfield line as far as Edenbridge Town. Any remaining suburban lines. Chiltern : Aylesbury via both possible lines. SWR : the entire ‘Windsor’ side of the network, all the way to Reading. Weybridge - Virginia Water. SW Mainline as far as Farnborough Main. The entire Alton line. All SWR Suburban services to Guildford/Dorking via all lines. GWR : Redhill to Guildford, Guildford to Reading. All remaining branch lines east of Reading. LNWR/ Avanti : West Coast line to Milton Keynes, Bletchley to Bedford, Watford Junction to St. Albans Abbey GTR North : Thameslink all the way to Bedford, Stevenage to Hitchin and on to Cambridge via Shepreth Greater Anglia : West Anglia lines both to Cambridge and Stansted Airport, entire line to Southend Victoria, Great Eastern line up to and including Witham, thus including Chelmsford. I don’t know which of these will form phase 2 and which phase 2A of rollout. .

Just to add to this: It also includes all remaining phase 1 stations from the original post. I’ve also attached a map to the top post.

I did hear whispers that the remainder would also go live but didn’t want to be too certain, apparently there will be a press launch on the 23rd September. But now that you and others have got it confirmed, it’s good they’ve got Phase 1 done and out of the way, time to turn our attention to Phase 2 it seems.

I for one will be relieved that PAYG is going to Windsor / Staines. Hopefully it’ll reduce the number of people caught out with a bank card ‘outside the zones’ when I’m doing ticket checks.
The sooner Phase 2 goes live, the better for the travelling public I think.

It always seemed odd to me that you could get any of four TfL bus routes to Staines, but you couldn't use PAYG on the train there. Quick question: can Oyster cards and freedom passes be used as far as Windsor or is it just contactless debit/credit cards which can be used?
