I also remembered 2003 being the year that the 145 got converted to a double decker. The 364 getting the caetano nimbus, the 394 being created along with the 388, the 104 and 238 also being converted to double decker that year as well as the 34 and 20. The 253 officially becoming its own route and no longer overlapping as the 254 was created.

Was a sad day when the RMLs went. I remember Upton Park did a few specials on routes 147 and 473 and maybe other routes using the green RMC than used to run on the 15 before the last day. I used to like the various different buses used on the route especially the RMA! Also in this day the 15 moved to BW. I remember the cavalcade of Routemasters passing my train at Limehouse on the last day of RMs on the 15, and later on, talking to enthusiasts travelling up to Bow for the last day of the 8 on my train running up from Lewisham to Stratford. However, I can also remember the 03-reg Tridents coming into service, particularly at BK on the 5. They were always my absolute favourite batch of Tridents, with the original S-BWC and T-KPU batches coming in a close second. I think the one batch of buses that was really underrated was the 02-reg short tridents that first went onto the 86 before moving to BW. I know TL had those buses by they were 52-reg with the plates starting with LV52. My two favourite buses from the 02 batch was 17537 and 17554

The 104, 238 and 257 going single decker in the early 00s must have been one of the most daft decisions ever.

Almost the complete opposite to now where we have routes with DDs pretty much for just a handful of journeys like the 353, 412.
