Starting Monday 30th October 2023. Route 3 will start from Sevenoaks Bus Station and will run via Sevenoaks Station, Riverhead Tesco, Dunton Green, Knockholt Pound, Halstead, Polhill Garden Centre, Pratts Bottom, Green Street Green and Orpington to the Princess Royal University Hospital at Locks Bottom. It will run 3 times per day in each direction on Mondays to Fridays and will open up a number of new links for bus users. It will provide a direct bus service from Sevenoaks to Orpington as well as the ever popular Polhill Garden Centre and create a new link from Knockholt and Halstead direct to the PRU Hospital for the first time. There will also be a schooltime service (numbered S3) which will provide additional capacity from Orpington, Halstead, Knockholt Pound, Dunton Green and Riverhead to and from Knole Academy and Sevenoaks to reduce overcrowding on the S32, S34 and S8 bus services with a return journey in the afternoon. Buses on route 3 will charge the same fare as parallel TfL buses within the London area if paying by contactless card (£1.75) but otherwise there will be a flat fare of £3 for all other journeys. We regret that Oyster cards will not be accepted on this service but all ENCTS (Elderly) pass holders may use their passes free of charge after 0930. Our normal school fares will apply on route s3. Timetable on their website www.go-coach.co.uk/bus-routes/3/

Timetable on their website www.go-coach.co.uk/bus-routes/3/This seems very similar to the old 3 and before that, the 431 which was implemented after the 402 was cutback, originally to Riverside Tesco but now only goes to Sevenoaks. Great news anyway, people have been asking for a link across the London border here so hopefully, it goes well

Arguably, that’s a link that TfL should be providing but that’s never going to happen. I hope it works out although those limited number of journeys might not work in its favour

Wish them the best of luck with this new route. I hope this will signal a new era of cross-boundary bus routes to and from London.
The routing within TfL territory is quite smart, providing local connections to key destinations and interchanges that would require 2 TfL buses. I’m surprised that Go-Coach aren’t trialling out a Saturday service.

Great to see the 3 come back.
All that area south of Green St Green has been devastated by lack of bus routes over the years.

Great to see the 3 come back. All that area south of Green St Green has been devastated by lack of bus routes over the years. I wonder if the section charging TFL fares will be just where there are other TFL routes or will the cheaper fares go as far as Knockholt Pound which used to be the section TFL passes were accepted on the 402.

There was an R6 linking Orpington with Sevenoaks in 1986-87. I admit I cannot tell how similar this routes will be.
