So folks I wanted to create this thread as I feel as though this topic hadn't been discussed much on here.
Here goes.
I was a die hard wrestling fan back in the day. I missed the days of The Rock, Bret Hart, Stone Cold with his Austin 3:16 quote. ECW, WCW, WWE AND F, AEW and TNA to name a few promotions out there.
I reckon WCW would still be around up to this day if they didn't make that reference about Mankind (Mick Foley) winning the championship.
The backstage politics with Shawn Michaels and The Rock (which was why them two never had a match against each other). Booker T beating the shxt out of Batista etc etc...
What's your fondest memories from the wrestling era.

Daniel Bryan winning the WWE championship at mania CM punk pipebomb and beating cena for the title Undertaker Mankind hell in a cell…… HHH thumbs down and evolution turning on Randy orton Hogan joining the NWO and the crowd going absolutely mad. Kevin Steen vs El Generico final battle ROH A lot of the stuff with LA knight I enjoy now. I’ve liked him from his days as Eli drake.

What's your fondest memories from the wrestling era. The Attitude era is widely regarded as the best era of wrestling bar none because of the amount of household wrestling names but also the quality of the whole spectacle was at it's peak. Most people I know who watched wrestling will pick a favourite from that era (mine in WWF/WWE was The Rock whilst in WCW, it was probably Booker T). After 2010-2011, I stopped watching it bar one Wrestlemania a couple of years before Covid and boy, has it declined big time

After 2010-2011, I stopped watching it bar one Wrestlemania a couple of years before Covid and boy, has it declined big time I struggle now to watch some of the modern stuff because surprises are ruined by social media and also the talent just isn’t as good anymore, the attitude era had everyone at their peak, with amazing booking and storylines that either made sense or were so ridiculous you’d watch for comedy humour. The ruthless aggression era after with the likes of cena, Batista, Benoit, guerrerro, lesnar, angle; orton etc really had some great in ring performers and then it was downhill from there and they will never get close to it again.

The Attitude era is widely regarded as the best era of wrestling bar none because of the amount of household wrestling names but also the quality of the whole spectacle was at it's peak I started watching WWF (as was) in 1992 as a ten year old. As I grew up the WWF literally grew with me and as a 15yo I absolutely loved 1997 WWF. The Attitude Era is undoubtedly my favourite era but looking back on it now with 40-odd year old eyes, the match quality is pretty abysmal. The whole era was based on storylines and angles and while they were top notch the actual wrestling was generally poor. Think about the most famous match of that era - the Mankind/Taker HIAC - and the match is remembered for Foley’s insane bumps (none of which would be permitted these days and rightly so). The actual match quality wasn’t brilliant - although to be fair, Foley was broken down and Taker had a broken foot! Like I said, I still place the Attitude Era at the top but for match quality you need to look more to the Ruthless Aggression Era or indeed the current product For me, the depth of talent in the roster today is far greater than during the Attitude Era and it shows when there are quality matches up and down the card I don’t watch as much of the current product as I used to since I don’t have BT Sport (or whatever it’s called these days) but I stay in touch through Twitter (I’m not calling it X!) and a fantastic throwback magazine called Inside The Ropes. I also still collect all the PPVs on DVD or Blu Ray and have a huge collection of DVD and Blu Ray box sets. My latest purchase was the six disc Undertaker at Wrestlemania Collection which is presented in a wooden coffin - a great collectors piece!

2003 honestly I felt as though triple h went on a burying spree. To think he buried the careers of 4 top superstars from WCW. Steiner, Nash (well to be fair they're best friends in real life), Booker T and Goldberg. Booker T in my opinion should have won in WM19

The Montreal screw job was the biggest news in 1997. That really made Vince McMahon a despicable guy.
Then you had in WCW on the 4th January 1999 the infamous fingerpoke of doom and at that point they went on a slippery slope.

Then when sting came over well later than the rest he got squashed by HHH at mania at wrestlemania 31. there’s a reoccurring theme as HHH I think beat them all. The only ex WCW guy they didn’t bury was Rey Mysterio but he came over well before the invasion angle. Was the same with ECW. They loved RVD has he came over before the invasion angle. But Tazz was buried. Sabu, we didn’t even see Sandman he didn’t want it. They kept Heyman on as the brains and he’s flourishing now. Strategic moves or ego trips? Who knows. If you take the chorus of HHH’s theme it says it all. It’s all about the game, and how you play it It’s all about control and if you can take it…

It's a shame Chris Benoit can no longer be mentioned in that community because of the disaster in 2007. Jim Ross is the voice of wrestling. Nobody even comes close. For some of us of a certain vintage the late Kent Walton was the voice of wrestling to be heard every Saturday afternoon at 4pm on World of Sport (ITV)...bringing memorable commentaries of wrestling bouts including moves such as "Boston Crabs", "Surfboards" and "Fore-Arm Smashes" delivered by wrestlers such as Mick McManus (New Cross) and 'Big Daddy' (Shirley Crabtree from Halifax). As Kent always ended each show... “Have a good week. . .till next week.”

I’ve watched whatever clips I could find of them: This is why I love forums.

"The Wrestling" was a small part of 1970s British social history with the Royal Family and Margaret Thatcher reputed to be devotees as part of the massive weekly ITV audiences. As well as the YouTube nuggets available, Simon Garfield wrote an illuminating and entertaining book "The Wrestling" many years ago...

That will shed some light as to why Triple H went on his crusade on burying stars.

My all time favourite storyline was the feud between Jake the snake Roberts and The Model Rick Martel. At one point The Model blinded Jake the Snake with perfume…at the time me and my friends at school thought it was real. Jake was blind then he eventually gained sight in one eye. I’ve just found a video of most of that storyline….they really sold it well, no wonder we believed it at the time: youtu.be/mn716RkULLY?feature=shared
