Did Abellio retain the 367 or was the contract extended for 2 years? Retained in March for another 5(possibly 7 subject to performance) years

Are the smart hybrids that are allocated to the 285 really hybrids? I say that because they always seem to be on diesel mode whenever I go on one. If they are actually diesel, I doubt they'll last past 5 years in TFL service.

There is nothing to stop them staying beyond 5 years as well

If they are actually diesel, I doubt they'll last past 5 years in TFL service. They’re smart hybrids, not conventional ones. Therefore, they never run on full electric mode, compared to standard hybrids with batteries or ultracapacitors.

If they are actually diesel, I doubt they'll last past 5 years in TFL service. They're essentially micro-hybrids which is where the small electric motor handles auxiliary functions (reducing fuel consumption) but unlike the larger electric motors on regular hybrids it doesn't turn the wheels. The engine hence works like a regular diesel bus engine but with reduced emissions.

111 awarded to Abellio. It will use electrics from April 2022 Essentially London United and Abellio have done a route/PVR swap with the 111,290 and 235. For a lad who can remember when Leyland Nationals were the allocation it’s a bit of a sad day to see it leave Hounslow garage. AV’s lost a lot of DD work in the past few years.

Not sure why your telling me this given I’m well aware and wasn’t questioning anything about it

These things tend to run in cycles. Perhaps on the next round of things AV could be on the up. Other companies have had bad runs before and they bounce back.

They have ,I remember the same period, and it is sad. They have more defending to do before they can win any new contracts as well. You never know, they have opportunities from around 2023 with the 120/222/237/E8 . But it I have to say TF is a better garage than AV in many ways.

AV hasn’t been great for a long while. Vehicle appearance has been shoddy, allocations lazy and effectively it has been backfilled by transferring other routes in during the past few years. TF on the other hand present their vehicles well. The reliability of the LTs on the 267 has been excellent in comparison to when it operated from the other end of the shed. The 111 is a huge route for them to win. I hope AV isn’t backfilled again by moving something out of WK.
