2019 is reported to be at TF for 285 type training. Will the 285s new buses still get the mirrorless cameras?

Sounds a bit like the Borisbus, same motors i wonder. Has the infrastructure now been set up for the C10? (bearing in mind they are still using diesels).

The new Caetano electric buses are entering service in fairly random order Now 10 of the 34 have been used with 1520 (21st bus as 1st is 1500) highest number used so far
So far only on P5, none yet on C10

Sounds a bit like the Borisbus, same motors i wonder. Has the infrastructure now been set up for the C10? (bearing in mind they are still using diesels). Looking at the specifications the Caetano uses a Siemens permanent-magnet synchrinous (180 kW) for an engine, comparing this to the NRM which uses a Cummins 4 cylinder iSBe. Probably nothing related to the motor sound but NRM also has Siemens ELFA® II electric drive system, but they do sound extremely similar. The C10 I'm told should be fine using MMCs for now, not sure whether this is related to charging infrastructure or if the P5 requires the new buses first, perhaps because of specification regarding the ULEZ? The C10 does go through the ULEZ as well, but is apparently exempt until they are able to get the electric buses on them, though surely this shouldn't matter because it's been suspended temporarily? Though I'd imagine they'd want to introduce all the eCity Gold vehicles on the C10 at once rather than staggering them, given the C10 has a PVR of 22 which is 13 more than the P5s PVR.

I suspect it's simply to get a full allocation ready on the P5 for when services possibly increase back to Mon-Fri levels later this month with the C10 continuing on with the MMC's and handful of old body Enviro 200's until fully converted to electric operation.

I would imagine it’s a very bitter RATP bearing in mind the route has been a dog to run for the past 2 years whilst Hounslow Council oversaw reconstruction of Feltham Railway bridge that made the Channel Tunnel construction seem a doddle in comparison. They done a great job for the past few years with significant increases in patronage too. Tendering is brutal now, Life goes on however....

I have some good memories of thrash while taking the N285. I don’t think the Smarts will be as quick having been on the 482. Nonetheless I wish Abellio the best of luck with the route. At least it’s stopped RATP from operating all TfL routes that stand at Cromwell Road Bus Station.
