There’s no point going over the same thing again but I don't see any problems with floating bus stops and surely the onus is just as much on pedestrians as it is on cyclists to use them safely? If you see, there's enough space for cyclists to overtake bus whilst remaining in the bus lane minimising risk of collision with other road traffic. The potential for collisions is clear to see and floating bus stops avoid such conflicting movements and yes the individual on the hire bike shouldn't have continued down the nearside of the bus. |

The requesting of a floating stop based on this video is selfishness from the cyclist that 'my journey should not be disturbed.' I dont think floating stops when first introduced or thought of had anticipated the explosion of electric bikes that make things more dangerous for pedestrians than before and not only at floating stops but the many shared pavements. |

Floating bus stops are awful - They are being installed in my local area along with making the road narrow which is almost a joke in itself as this road will be an approach to the new Silvertown Tunnel.
Who has the right of way when the bus stops don't have mini pedestrian crossings? Cycilists don't even attempt to slow down. I have always found this stop pretty lethal as cyclists speed along the path Aldage

ronnie don’t forget the dogs abuse a pedestrian receives from some cyclists when you have right of way to cross via a green man or via the Highway Code rules. I’ve been abused by a cyclist before despite crossing on the green man - I told him to jump off if he has a problem so he wasn’t that hard clearly! The irony is most in this thread are trying to be painted as anti cyclist but I’m sure most of us aren’t. Cycling has a place but that doesn’t mean cyclists can do what they want and ignore most rules going nor does it mean infrastructure should continually pander solely to them - buses are crying out for such expenditure in terms of priority which they absolutely should have over cyclists for the simple reason of they transport far more people and thus are more efficient as a transport method. As for floating bus stops, I’ve not used too many but I’ve doubts about how effective they really are in terms of safety. The one at Elephant where the 196 uses as its first stop is flawed in that it lacks a crossing at the southern end of the stop crossing the cycle lane which results in people not using the northern crossing given most are approaching the stop from the south
