On Thursday I listened to and decided on my favourite top 40 hits from July 31st over the years. I chose this date as the schools will have broken up and it is before August, when we know the daylight hours are reducing.

As an aside, some of you might be pleased that 4 of my top 80 came from 1977, the first summer I took an interest in London buses per se rather than just for links between Underground stations!

Anyway, I mention this chart here because my all-time favourite summer hit is from the Beach Boys, namely Do It Again from 1968.
