Stagecoach have just won a new 10 year franchise for South West Trains. This was down to a number of conditions, one being that they'll pump back £1.7 billion worth of profit back to the treasury by 2017.
In addition, Stagecoach are introducing their own Oyster Card for SWT. This will be valid on all SWT services, with TfL's Oyster Card also becoming valid on all services within the Greater London area

Nice to hear Oyster being extended to a new network and another smart-card system that is compatible to Oyster.

One reason why I never brought an oyster was because of SWT not accepting them so this is good news. I seen a bit of bad press on SWT but I thought they provided a better service than southern trains. One thing which annoyed me on these trains is the guard annoucing links when the train reaches Wimbledon. 'Change here for trams to Croydon and Beckenham Junction'. The trams go to Elmers End not Beckenham ;D
