When did TFL start the all over 100% red livery? When did TfL start making buses have a 80% red livery and allowing buses keep there liveries at skirt level? Late 2011 was when the 100% red livery rule came into play. The 436 and 453 lost their bendys that year, brand new Enviro400s (SN61 plates) replaced them. All of them were delivered with a plain red livery, except E173, which entered service with a grey skirt (I'm not sure why). Did Metroline start getting rid of their blue skirts earlier than needed as it was much earlier than 2011 when they lost theirs. I could be wrong but Metroline started being all red around 2009/10

The Stagecoach livery started being removed from 2006 when their operations were sold to Macquarie Bank, even after it was brought back in 2010, Stagecoach decided to remain 100% red in London. Most of First's London buses were 100% red around 2009/10. My guess is that either Metroline were just following the crowd, or that TfL already warned operators of the 100% red rule a couple years beforehand.

From late 1996 all buses entering Zone 1 had to be 80% red.
From late 2001 all buses had to be 80% red.
From late 2004 2006 all buses had to be red above skirt level.
From late 2011 all buses had to be red.

I think it was a combination of cost-saving and the fact that TfL had been hinting that they would go 100% red for a while. Metroline probably got fed up waiting for them to make their minds up! The last buses to be delivered with blue skirts were at the start of the 09-reg period. This left Go-Ahead as the only operator to use a coloured skirt, until TfL finally got round to specifying 100% red.

Arriva 2005 deliveries had cow horns? Sorry, you're right, that should be late 2006 - I'll edit it.
IIRC the policy change was announced in 2004, but wasn't written into new contracts until 2006. Most operators changed their liveries straight away in 2004 (e.g. Metroline changed the height of their skirt, and London United lost the off-white upper deck), but Arriva stuck with the cow horns until they were officially banned.

Arriva 2005 deliveries had cow horns? The 05 reg deliveries did have cowhorns but not the 55 reg deliveries - both the 159 VLA's & the 258's Pulsar Gemini's came without cowhorns

Below are links to photos of First London VNLs the 52 reg and the 03 reg. They both have different types of windows. What are the type of windows called? flic.kr/p/2k9YKt5flic.kr/p/jbnfES
