Does anyone have any specific details on the history of DE20092? (YX58 DXA) E.g. why it was ordered, and what route it was new for (a top up at NC maybe?) A fun fact is that it has been refurbished twice, in 2015 and 2019. Wasn’t this one a top up with NCP for the 272 before it was sold to Transdev.

Definitely an NCP top up order but not sure what route for.

So if the 84 gets withdrawn can TfL use the number for a new route?

Used to be - however, it still doesn't prove Eastlondoner62 example wrong. You also have a non TfL 26 in East London and Arriva's 8 currently runs into London around Mount Vernon Hospital. The 58 used to run under First Berkshire and there are countless more examples.

TfL tend not to use a number if it is already in use for a non-TfL route with a London Service Permit. In all the examples mentioned so far, the non-TfL route was created long after the TfL one. Arriva's route 8 is a descendant of London Country route 348 (originally 347A). First Berkshire's former 58 also had its origins in a London Country route, the 458. It's successor is now the 3.

Speaking of the 8, it is one of a number of changes Arriva are making to the Watford network with it only running between Watford and Mount Vernon Hospital from April as published on Intalink website. It also includes the notice of cancellation for the 84 images.intalink.org.uk/downloads/Register%20of%20Applications%20-%20Issue%2012.pdf

Was the 306 not introduced despite there being an existing 306 operated by Sullivans?

Was the 306 not introduced despite there being an existing 306 operated by Sullivans? Sullivan Buses 306 doesn't enter Greater London so doesn't have a London Service Permit.
