Nope, they’ve both used hybrids Ahh never knew. I guess the SL7 never uses Hybrids around Croydon? The SL7 only never uses hybrids because they are neither blinded nor branded for it. The X26 used to see WHV’s and EH’s on it nearly all the time. The 403 also used to see plenty of hybrids used on it when there was a big hybrid population at Croydon, certainly so when it peaked around 2019/20 when you had the 119, 197 and 202 which all had hybrids allocated to it. Now there’s only 4 hybrids left at Croydon (WHV45-49) which are mainly concentrated on the 119 and 633, with the occasional appearance on the 127, they are used far less often on the 403. B9TL’s are far more common instead, most possibly because they perform well on the 403’s hills.

Why does the B12 have different routings through Joydens Wood? So buses can serve the Joydens Wood loop in both directions A driver told me when it was at DT it is so the School Children who want to get off at Leyton Cross in the the AM go straight there rather than the full loop allows the bus to be empty after that stop.

I am pretty sure that’s the correct answer, and Monday to Friday at least, it makes perfect sense.

There is also a little local travel within the Joydens Wood estate so operating the loop in both directions allows out-and-back journeys.

Went to Orpington today and noticed that stop F (at the bus station) has all routes removed except the 51. What's up with that?

In your opinion what are the best Volvo buses? There are a mixture of B5LH, B5TLs, B7s, B8 & B9TLs.
My favourite is the B7s but we do not have anymore in London.
Also a question, are the B9TLs remaining in London all "original" EUROV examples?

The only Euro IV examples that run on the TfL network was B9, a 06 reg vehicle with London General and three ex Bristol examples that Sullivan Buses ran on TfL school routes. Whilst I like B7TL's & B9TL's a lot, the Volvo Olympian & Volvo Citybus are my favourites. I also like B10M's (especially those Stagecoach Alexander PS versions), B7RLE's, B6 & B10 single deckers as well

I need to explore more as never heard of a B6 apart from the college I went to 20 odd years ago 😄.

Definitely gotta be the B5LH / Gemini 2s for me, their musical gearbox makes the ride very enjoyable for me and I find it baffling how the oldest allocation of this model, which are the first five Arriva HVs that used to showcase a green leaf livery is now over 15 years old and have now been withdrawn from service in London. Will be a sad day for me when all of the hybrid G2 fleets are all gone from London, which I feel like will happen within the next three or four years, but will be interesting to see where else in the UK they’ll be displaced to or else in the worst case scenario, scrapped instantly after withdrawal from TfL.

I'm not sure how it's baffling when they are 16 years old with lots of expensive parts that are life-expired

I think that the B5LH Gemini 2s are superior to B9TLs but I’d guess that is an unpopular opinion based on the amount of love B9TLs get. Like on the 280 a WHV getting floored on straight ground can rev very loudly and wildly whereas the WVNs just grumble boringly.

I need to explore more as never heard of a B6 apart from the college I went to 20 odd years ago 😄. I suspect it’s highly unlikely there are any B10’s of any kind in service outside of preservation and the same for B6’s. The B10B’s were step entrance 12m single deckers with the B10BLE the low floor successor. This was succeeded by the Volvo B7L but that didn’t last long and was replaced by the B7RLE. Sovereign used to operate some B10B’s & B10BLE’s on its Hertfordshire services. The B6 were a step entrance competitor to the step entrance Dart but unlike the Dart, they only came in one length. The B6BLE was the low floor successor, again designed to compete with the low floor Dart and you could argue that the Volvo BZL single deckers are the successor to that here in the UK given there hasn’t been an equivalent Volvo single decker at those lengths since then. Arriva had 2 B6BLE’s on TfL work at GR until its closure numbered 3258 & 3260 - good buses though one of them took an age to get up to speed. Not sure where the closest B7TL’s are now in regular service but there should be some still going though I wouldn’t hang around as they’ll be on the chopping block for sure
