Just been looking through some Flickr photos of the all over add NB4Ls. Perhaps I've been half asleep but there seem to be a growing number of ads that totally cover over the glazed front staircase and even some of the upper deck windows. Can someone say if the ads are "contravision" thus allowing people to see out or do they create a massive dark area inside the bus and in the front staircase area?
The designs also seem to be becoming ever more garish and outlandish as we move into the next new campaign. It seems odd to have created a supposed unique and "iconic" design and then have it plastered over with enormous multi coloured adverts.

Some are contravision, but the level of visibility sometimes depends on the time of day. Mind you some of them are hideous (Red Bull, looking your way).

Does the Prudential Bike Ride this coming Sunday mean the X26 is diverted via the M25? [1] Time for a Citaro mega blast down the motorway! [1] I have looked at the TfL website but it just refers to "non stop diversion" between New Malden and Hatton X.

So is taking photos of buses not allowed? I ask this because I was taking pictures of the 83 and the driver said that it was not allowed.

Of course it isn't if you were in a public place and not on private property like a bus garage. Report the driver for his behaviour. It's about time drivers understood the law on photography and stopped thinking daft things like the data protection act give them the right to abuse the public going about their lawful business.

I was taking a picture of it at A bus stop at Ealing Hospital. I always get nervous when taking photos of buses I get worried about bus drivers reactions and the bus driver won't like me taking photos.

Which, if you stop to think about it, is a ludicrous state of affairs. There is no reason for you to feel that way and no one doing their job properly should act to make you feel that way. I do actually understand how you feel having been shouted at, sworn at and gesticulated at by bus drivers simply because I had a camera in my hand. Report the driver. I don't care if that makes me unpopular with some here - such behaviour is completely unacceptable. Don't become a driver of any public transport vehicle if you don't want be photographed. It's something that comes with the job.

I'd not be surprised if there were instructions about behaviour. Several decent bus companies do provide advice to their drivers about bus enthusiasts and how to behave. Even allowing for people having "off days" and stress and everything else there is still, IMO, not a single excuse for drivers of public transport vehicles (which covers more than buses you will note) to be telling anyone off about anything if the individual(s) are behaving properly [1] and enjoying their hobby. [1] people trespassing on the railway or on company property or running like psychos down the road after a bus clearly do not fall into this category. [2] [2] which is why I so rarely bother with any sort of enthusiast meeting or event these days. Too many people get carried away and risk spoiling things for everyone.

Does the 195 have any restrictions to prevent it from being double decked?
