That was exactly the point I was making. The 240 will be an example of getting an allocation of nine year old buses because it is a Metroline route for the next five years at least so Metroline can use the TEHs, thus alleviating the need to upgrade some of the oldest TEs at EW, sadly that will include old TE715. Ah I thought you were stating the 271 should keep the TEHs? It'd probably be better to keep the 60/61 reg TEHs at EW with the 271 going fully VWH at HT lot less movements and keeps the amount of types down and the 240 is running on an older contract. On a related note, Metroline change their mind every 5 seconds so plans may change by contract renewal. I agree with you VWHs for the 271 makes more sense, as it reduces the number of DD types at HT to five - but of course this could eventually fall to three with the W7's TEs and VWs being replaced by hybrids. I mean its not like Metroline won't have plenty of VWHs around soon, even at the end of this year, they'll have most of the 34's spare (bar the few which are going to the 125), some spare from the 43's conversion to BDEs, and some spare from the 52's PVR cut. It doesn't really make sense to keep a filler ULEZ allocation of nine TEHs at HT when they're such a small minority.

I believe the W7 will remain with its current allocation given that its allocation is being refurbished currently but any spares from converting the 271 I feel may actually go to PB to assist the withdrawal of the 08/58 reg there as they are not Euro 6.

The 240 I do not see as an example, its allocation isn't staying: That was exactly the point I was making. Actually got on TE715 the other day on the 240 and its still amazing for its age, a little worn out which is to be expected considering it was last refurbed around 5 years ago. Still coping with the hills around Mill Hill pretty well and still a speedy bus. Will be sad when the Euro IV TEs finally leave EW (Of course they will be left with the 107 TEs), can honestly say they are some of the quickest buses I've been on, well suited to the 107, 113 and 186 which have fast sections (Especially the 113).

I agree about the 113, I made sure I completed it whilst it was still using beastly TEs. I haven't used a VMH on the section between Fortune Green and Edgware yet - I think I'll enjoy the B5LH at speed but still not a patch on the TEs.

It's allways the old stuff i get great satisfaction stuff these days you can hardly touch what the new buses that they replaced

I found the EW ones quite mixed - some really restricted examples but absolute beasty ones as well and the 107 & 240 are great routes to get a real test of them.

Have a feeling this is a loan. AR have loaned LTs to SF previously, wouldn’t make sense for AR to get rid of them when they are covering the 19.
