I wonder who watched Silent Witness on BBC1 the last 2 nights.
The stuff I saw in the 2 episodes made my hair stand on its end.
Of course this could simply have been stereotypical media portrayal.
What I'd like to know, from those who have first-hand experience, is what areas such as Streatham, Brixton, Battersea (to name but a few) exactly are like especially after dark.

Funny enough I watched it on thursday night as I was on break. I used to live in streatham and had no problems walking alone at night. I saw the bit in brixton where they smashed the phone box. Thats not an everyday occurence. More common with partygoers imo.
You do get alot of nutters in brixton though. Theres one especially who hangs around at the station who keeps harassing the passengers who get on my bus.
The bit that concerned me the most on that show was the part where a couple was walking and the group went to approach them but then the police turned up from nowhere. Never had that experience but know a few that have.
And just to add, about 2 weeks ago, was driving the route 3 along brixton road at kennington. About 20-30 kids, all on bikes was cycling towards brixton, on the pavement. All of them hoodies. Was quite surreal when I was at the stop and they all rode past the doors. Overtook them only for the same thing to happen when I got to the bus stop

I used to live in streatham and had no problems walking alone at night I would say the same, though I still live here. Nor have I had any trouble in Brixton when transferring from tube to bus late at night either. Never saw the programme you are talking about, but personally I would say things are no better or worse here than in any other urban centres elsewhere in the country.
