Personally I would say use a good quality digital camera simply because you can pull off a better shot of the bus than you could with an SLR camera. I had one of those single use cameras that I had to use up from a day trip and I thought to myself, what better to use them on than bus pictures. Thing is, what I thought were really good shots actually came out not so good. Advantage of using a digital is the zoom as you would be able to get a much better picture.

Don't forget spare batteries for your camera as well The amount of times in my very short bus photography career I have had to let good shots go due to the battery running out of juice ;D ;D Also if you are at rallies, a tripod for your camera would also be useful, allowing you to take perfect shots. Wouldn't go down so well in a bus station though ;D

If you're looking for a decent camera battery, I bought the Energizer Lithium type over a month ago and it hasn't let me down at all as yet.

How do those batteries manage when you get them outside?? Only reason I ask is that the last time I was at Show(er)bus my camera batteries didn't last too long cos of the outside temperature. An all night charge lasted about 30 minutes and I had to buy some new ones that lasted the rest of the afternoon

One thing i found out recently, its illegal to use a camera on a tripod in Trafalgar square!! i wanted to take a night shot on a long exposure, old fashioned 35mm man me, and a nice old copper politely told me you can't use a tripod in the square. he said he didn't know why. i ended up placing the camera on the wall, pictures came out OK. I've taken pictures in Bus stations and garages, BUT only after asking very politley for permission. It also helps if the person who let you is asked if they would like copies, surprised how many times they are grateful.
