With so much of the Surface lines knocked out this weekend, is it beyond hope that any vintage buses will be covering rail replacement services? They've always been ready to go at short notice during tube strikes so why not? If your referring to RMs they cannot do Replacements because of disabilities regulations.

They've always been ready to go at short notice during tube strikes so why not? Tube strikes happen on weekdays when there aren't many spare buses knocking around, so you end up with whatever's spare. At weekends there are plenty of spare modern buses to cover planned engineering work, so I would say there is no hope of a vintage bus turning up on TfL work.

I believe Metroline are contracted to operate the PL2 coach service to Heathrow T5 Believe Westbus will be operating the service as Metroline don't have any coaches. It's Metrolines contract.

Seems to be a mismatch with the codes on LVF this weekend:
Entering PL-1 gives you the buses on PL-7 (PL-7 does not return any results).
To get the buses on PL-1, you need to enter LO-T.
PL-4 works correctly.

The Metropolitan Line is shut today and tomorrow before midday. Seems like Ensignbus and various other operators are out on both ML1/2, unsure about ML3.

So I drove the West Croydon to Epsom Downs rail replacement service a couple of weekends ago. The routeAn irregular 4bph service ran between West Croydon, Waddon, Wallington, Carshalton Beeches and Sutton, with buses every 30 minutes serving Belmont, Banstead and Epsom Downs. Most stops were in the immediate vicinity and eyeshot of the station. Waddon is served round the corner from Stafford Road Banstead is served from Fir Tree Road, about 200 metres from the station Epsom Downs is served from the 166 bus stop on Longdown Lane South which is about a 600 metre walk from the station. Maps and WayfindingMaps - LINKThe route was moderately easy. A couple of double runs and the one way system in Sutton plus the loop in Epsom Downs are potential points of confusion but everyone who was out knew what they were doing. LoadingsNot too busy, I didn't carry more than about 15 passengers at any one time. Quite a few people at the Sutton Police Station X26 bus stop were frantically waving me down but that is not the stop for Sutton station. Running timesTimed for 7am on a Sunday morning between West Croydon and Sutton - really rather tight. There was quite a bit of slack between Sutton and Epsom Downs which balanced things out. Going towards West Croydon I found I had to wait for a few minutes at Banstead and Belmont. Vehicle ChoiceIt was my final day at Merton Bus Garage and I requested a Euro 5 WHV as I just wanted to have a go in one. It was a very interesting experience. The wheelbase isn't that much shorter than a standard decker but the difference could really be felt - this particular type rocks and sways as standard and produces more vertical force when going over bumps and humps, particularly if sat in the tail section. Corners have to be taken quite a bit slower than average. All makes for lively quality of ride! SummaryPleasant enough route. Not much traffic and not very busy. It was the day of the torrential downfalls so the radio was going off non-stop about road closures and diversions on the other side of London, but the local councils have their drainage in check. Route difficulty rating - 2/3 (intermediate) Enjoyability - 3/5 (moderate) Next route review - Stonebridge Park - Wembley Park - Stanmore

HT23 out on the District Line rail replacement service. Is this the first HT on a rail replacement?
A chance for some of the London North drivers to see a newer Arriva decker.

Noticed Stagecoach taking on more rail work lately.
