Can’t believe how ridiculously busy local buses 147 and 474 are as a result of the DLR closure between Poplar and Beckton. Rail replacement buses don’t seem very frequent. I’m surprised more passengers are not diverting onto the Elizabeth Line at Custom House. Edit : Elizabeth Line is closed between Abbey Wood and Paddington. The DLR buses are every 10 minutes

What is unusual is the last buses on Gospel Oak - Stratford have extensions on request to Richmond. The use of buses plural suggests more than one can be requested Replacement buses operate Service S: Hampstead Heath - Gospel Oak (Agincourt Road / Southampton Road) - Kentish Town West - Camden Road - Holloway Road (for Piccadilly line) - Highbury & Islington (for Caledonian Road & Barnsbury) - Canonbury (St Paul's Road) - Dalston Junction - Hackney Central - Homerton - Hackney Wick - Stratford. Last westbound buses continue beyond Camden Road on request for stations to Richmond. tfl.gov.uk/tube-dlr-overground/status/#line-raillo-overground

Last westbound buses continue beyond Camden Road on request for stations to Richmond. tfl.gov.uk/tube-dlr-overground/status/#line-raillo-overgroundThe late night extensions usually do operate when the closure is between Stratford and Camden Town but the closure limits have changed. The buses used to leave Stratford at 2215, 2245 and 2315 for the purpose of preserving the through service to Richmond. The first bus to Richmond was faster than the last westbound train from Camden Road to Willesden Junction - I used to overtake that train in the Kensal Rise area. The other thing is while TfL designated it set down only after a certain point, the TOC didn’t, so these trips show up in the National Rail journey planners and you get people waiting for them. There was around 60 minutes of excess running time between Camden Road and Richmond so the chances of buses running to schedule between those stations was slim!

Some of this is down to driver shortage, but a lot is also down to price paid for operating the services. A lot of local operators no longer bother offering to cover RRS, others take work then if they get a better paying private hire/tour they throw it back and some simply sit back and wait for work to be offered at E-Rail rate. Sadly E-Rail is usually only offered last minute so if, like in the case of Tun Wells - Battle the entire All-Stations service is unable to be covered, it won't be offered as E-Rail until very late in the week by which time either firms have alternative work or drivers have made other plans to be able to cover. It was because I wasn't working . In all seriousness, seems to have been mostly last minute staff duty cuts, unexpected passenger demand and a few mechanical buses, along with some traffic delays
